Better give a review before I head back!
Connie and Ingo are super outgoing and a blast to spend time with. They know the area well and were great in providing advice and activities to engage our teenage kids.
Can't wait for another game of coconut bowling!

Avoid this overpriced rip off which offers a doorstep view of the Pacific ocean and nothing else. It is hostel.
A communal kitchen was provided as you would expect in a camping ground which is exactly what this resort is, a camping ground posing as a resort!
The fridges and a toaster were covered in rust ( photos attached)
All of the property requires a full renovation and replacement of beds, linen, towels and bathroom appliances. Everything was more or less falling apart.
The breakfast was not fit for my dog and all of the above for $102 , a complete rip off and even at $30 a night I would not return.
The owners are arrogant and I believe live in Oslo living like royalty from scammed tourists like me and using the location as worth more than the headache the property bestows on all who enter.Avoid!

Very overpriced
However... we paid $180USD for one night at Totobe Resort and felt we'd been cheated. The room was very basic and tired (see photos). No Aircon, no curtains on some of the windows (so we got changed in the dark in the evening), no mosquito net and generally run down and scruffy.
We booked off the back the limited reviews and photos on this TripAdvisor page, and unfortunately despite it being the most expensive place on our three week trip, it represented the worst value by a long way (for the same kind of price, we stayed in relative luxury along the coast of the Nicoya Peninsula). It would have been a reasonable deal if it were a third the price we paid but the fact is a hostel style room should be no more than $80USD. On the upside, the food cooked in the evening was lovely. (Although no alcohol, or soft drink options).
We raised the issue with the owner (who lives in Norway) and the response was "that's what you pay to wake up to the sound of the sea". Actually.. it's not (we discovered it was listed on Airbnb for $70USD). It just needs some TLC and maintenance before hiking the prices.
