We loved Casa Aura!
We had room #3 the bed was comfortable and the breakfast was very good! The sea is in the backyard and the view is splendid! Close to everything on foot! We rented surfs for the week right next door! The price is great for the place! Thanks to all the staff we will come back!

Too loud!
The all wooden hotel is very nice and its location next to the beach is very appreciable. On the other hand it's noisy, the road passes just behind and especially avoid Friday night because the nightclub right next door sends decibels until late at night!
In the room we had, there was no wardrobe, no coat door which can be awkward when you stay a few days and no bedside lamp.

Great for beginners! And its on the beach!
I thought the $30/night was an acceptable price since it includes breakfast. Most of the other hostels and hotels online did not offer that.
Keep in mind they do not have individual lockers but will store your bags for you.
Fridge and full kitchen are available at all times. Patio area with hammocks was quite pleasant and you can see the surf from there. A short walk puts you in the ocean at the north end of Playa Tamarindo.
Super safe: I left my backpack on or under my bed every day. I had no issues with other guests or staff and my gear. Even the laundry I left on the balcony was untouched. The only note was that 5 Imperial Silvers ended up in “my” drawer in the fridge. I put them on an empty shelf in the morning. :)
Stayed 5 nights mid-February 2020. Stayed in the dormitory.
Had a very pleasant hostel experience. I only had one noisy night with some rowdy youngsters in the shower. Honestly: If you are easily offended or need personal space you likely are not looking to stay in a hostel, particularly a dorm style.

Feels like home (a casa)!
Before booking the place, I was not checking much. But if I had to do it again, I would make the same choice
