A real treat! Simply unique!
We had reservations for this hotel as part of our cross Andes road trip. The hotel was booked by Royal Galapagos and they could not have picked a better place. While the road into the estate was rough, our stay could not have been better.
We were greeted by cheerful and informative staff who showed us around this estate and gave us a history of this interesting and beautiful Inca treasure and former monastery, as well as a local welcome beverage.
Our room was the Inca Suite which consisted of two large bedrooms, bathroom and a small foyer. As the pictures show, all the walls were painted with remnants of various old murals, chocolate candies were in a bowl, flowers were placed on the mantelpieces (there was a fireplace in each bedroom AND in the bathroom), comfortable period furniture was in each room, as well as lots of bottled water available, and excellent amenities in the bathroom. One bedroom actually had one section of wall originally part of the Inca fortress and faced a beautiful flower garden, the other bedroom had a large window facing the expansive courtyard.
In the evening all the fireplaces were lit with lots of firewood to keep them going. Even better, upon our return from dinner we discovered not only had the fires been tended but hot water bottles had been placed in our bed. Lovely. While it got cool during the night the duvets and extra blankets on the bed were more than enough to keep us comfortable.
Dinner in a former Inca chamber was excellent and professionally served. Elegance and sophistication normally found in a first class restaurant. We were able to bring our own bottle of wine to the table since the sale of alcohol was prohibited throughout Ecuador due to the referendum that week.
The added fun was the llama “show” when you were given a basket of carrots and they let 15 or so llamas in from an outside coral. The staff offering to take your picture while you fed - or fended off - the llamas, showed the excellent service provided throughout our stay.
If you want a unique Ecuadorian experience, get up close to llamas, learn some Inca and Ecuadorian history, eat wonderful meals, or simply relax in a beautiful suite or the gardens, this hacienda should be on your list.

Beware of scam, don’t book!
Beware of scam!! /cuidanse de una estafa!!
My wife and I booked this hotel a few weeks out and received a confirmation email with confirmation number as well as a follow up email saying “all set for your stay!”
Then the day of our reservation we spoke with the hotel to make a dinner reservation, only to find out they cancelled our reservation without cause and without notifying us. We pushed back and showed them all the confirmations, and their response was “You got too good of a price on the room, it was an error on our booking site. Our apologies.” We were left scrambling to find somewhere to stay.
Worst customer service I’ve ever experienced, and first 1 star review I’ve ever left. A true scam, avoid risking this!!

Thank you Brenda and team for an amazing experience
Our room was amazing, we had a private lounge, bedroom and bathroom and each room had a fireplace/woodburner, it was like a mini house.
As the temperature drops at night, a member of staff keeps the fires lit and pops a hot water bottle into your bed at night.
We had dinner in the Inca dinning room, which is stunning. Breakfast is in a separate room which is lovely too.
Food was very good and we had a couple of bottles of Ecuadorian red wine with our meals which was reasonably priced.
On our last morning we did an art class with Paul in the Inca chapel, this lasted around two hours and we have two lovely paintings now to remind us of our stay.
We had a private guide with us but the hotel can organise excursions if you don't and from here we visited Cotapaxi national park, Lake Quilotoa, the local markets and a rose farm.
There is a view of Cotapaxi from the property which is especially nice in the early evening light if the clouds stay away.
We were also able to try our hand at milking cows, feeding the Llamas and had a full tour of the property to learn about its history.
The Hacienda has a resident dog, Lady Gaga who is very friendly and a more aloof cat called Greta Garbo.
But like most of our experiences in Ecuador, it was the staff that made our stay special, in particular Brenda made sure that we were made very welcome and nothing was too much trouble. I shall always remember our stay here with very fond memories, this is a very special place.

Unique, Unforgettable & Charming! AMAZING
Absolutely unforgettable stay at Inca Hacienda Cotopaxi! From the moment we arrived, manager Andrés and host Brenda welcomed us like family, creating a warm, authentic atmosphere that made us feel truly at home. Painting instructor Paul reignited our creativity, helping us discover the artists we never knew we were—decades after school teachers gave up on us! And Fernando, the chef, brought Ecuadorian cuisine to life in a hands-on cooking class we’ll never forget. A magical experience in every way.
A big thank you to the entire team and the lovely owner Mignon and her family for having us stay at this unique property. We will come back!

Great Hacienda in the Mountains
This is a rustic, yet beautiful hacienda in the mountains south of Quito. The place has tons of history. The suites are large and beautiful. I love how they were heated by wood burning fireplaces--we had 3 of them in our suite (you can tend to them, but the hotel staff will happily help). Joanna was the person who we dealt with the most. She was super nice and helpful. The entire staff was excellent. The food was also quite good. We also loved hanging out with "Lady Gaga," the awesome golden lab!
