Great location
Great location.
I'd booked the apartments instead of the hotel as the hotel looked like it was too far out from town. We were picked up and dropped off at the hotel reception to pay and pick up the keys, the dropped off at the apartment.
They are very basic but we didn't want to share facilities like we did in our previous location, so the price is high considering what you get. There is a strong musty smell as you open the door. Breakfast is not included but you can walk to the hotel for it if you wish...and pay.
If you book a table at their restaurant at the hotel, they don't offer pick up or drop off. Considering dinner cost us about £250 for two people...this service of a shuttle should be offered as we are still guests!
Staff were very attentive through the booking app, but not so much in person.
Had to wait several hours for amenities replenishment.
As it is a self catered apartment, you can make your Breakfast, lunch and dinner here, it is located nearby supermarkets, restaurants and the harbour.
There is a bit of noise from surrounding people, but still a good little stay.
Though, the taxi who referred to the place as the luxury apartments, when clarifying the drop off after dinner at the hotel,...the apartments are anything but luxury!

Most convenient hotel in town but don't have high expectations
If you've never been to Greenland before then heads up the standard of rooms is not very high compared to the western industrialized nations. You will also pay a relatively high price for the standard. This is probably a 2 star at 4 star prices. But the location makes up for everything the room itself lacks. If you know what you're getting into, then this place is the best value besides a hostel in Ilulissat but your expectations need to be adjusted.
The kitchen and bathroom are functional but the grocery stores are nearby so you save a lot by being able to feed yourself. You can eat ready-to-eat foods rather than cooking.
The major tourist activity meeting points, wifi cafes, restaurants, shops etc are all right there about 500 meters away. The other major hotels like Hotel Arctic and the affiliated Hotel Icefiord are significantly further away from the "city center" but have magnificent views on the water and that's what you are paying for.
I hate to say this but I have stayed here twice on two separate occasions and the wifi has never worked. They're working on it. Do not skimp on this: you will need to buy a sim card for your phone or with a wifi hotspot device The service is called Tusass and you can get them at any Post Office / Tele-Post location in the country. The card itself is only about 64 USD / 400 DKK, This is essential if the wifi is not working because you'll need it to call the front desk. Get the after hours phone number in case of an emergency, such as heater going out in the middle of the night, which happened to me. I'm still giving it 4/5 despite this because of the value you're getting for the price and location.
Bottom line: I've got a bit of authority in saying that I have stayed at all the big players in Ilulissat numerous times before but I come back here because I prefer the location over minor luxury. The driver will take you wherever you want to go. Icefiord - the hotel - has the best restaurant in town and Hotel Arctic has the nicest rooms for a price. I can be more spontaneous here because it isn't a trek into town. I like being able to control what I eat and not be held hostage by the restaurant hours. Take it from me, make your stay in Greenland a little more affordable by staying here and doing an extra activity with the money you would have saved. There aren't many cities in Greenland that have as many options as Ilulissat and Nuuk but it is nice to know there is a value player in town in addition to the many expensive ones.

In the center of town, comfortable, clean but basic
If you expect to stay at the hotel: you don't. These selfcatered apartments are closer to the center of town and offer lots of space. You can make your own diner (or breakfast) in a small kitchen. Start with going to the supermarket for tea and coffee, there is nothing in the apartment. The beds are okay, the bathroom was not really clean.
You hear some noise from the other guests, and you cannot open the windows because of the mosquitos.
There is Wifi, if you pay for it.

Small apartment, good location and value for price
I stayed in this apartment at the end of march just before the tourist season is starting. The apartments are located just off the main street in Ilulissat. There is a supermarket that has a wide selection at about 7 mins walk. (They also sell fresh bread starting at 7am). The apartments are build inside a wooden complex with rather thin walls. It's not that you hear the neighbours talk but when it was really quiet at night I could hear their snoring (one night in stereo since neighbours on both sides were snoring). I carried earplugs so it didn't bother me much.
The apartments are part of a hotel thats about 20 mins walking from the apartments. They provide transport for free from the airport to the hotel, and then to the apartment. I did a late checkout and they transported my suitcase to the hotel for storage while I was out that day. Servicewise I think there is nothing to complain.
The apartments were reasonable clean only the walls had some spots here and there. The bathroom seams a little tired and sometimes had a odd smell (I read here others also noticed this). The kitchen has a coffee machine, microwave, boiler and stove. All the basics are there.
All together I had a good time in Ilulissat and I think I would come back here again. The other hotels are simply too far from all the action for me. With this apartment everything is within walking distance!

Basic apartment in the center of Ilulissat.
People at Icefiord Hotel is very helpful. They responded my emails before my trip on timely manner. I have a quiet apartment. It was comfortable and clean. Location is right at the center of Ilulissat. Mosquitoes are worst experience in Ilulissat. Be sure to close door and window tight.The only complaint is pick up time reserved for 10:20 am to airport. DRIVER WAS 25 MINUTES LATE. My AT&T cell phone was unable to make a call. Fortunately, there was a couple from Denmark waiting for the same pick up. They called Icefiord Hotel front desk TWICE. I have to reduce one star for service because of this. Make sure you leave enough time for your return flight.
