Family stay
The room was clean and well layed out. Breakfast was very good and caters for even the toughest critic. There was a kids playroom and scavenger hunt which kept the kids happy. Staff were all friendly and helpful.
Location wise it's great, a shuttle can take you to the nearest metro, there is the option of a water taxi or about a 15/20 minutes walk to the nearest metro or tram station.
Overall a great stay and highly recommended.

So amazing, yet so not.
Let me say that the ship itself is glorious. The 5th and final iteration of the SS Rotterdam legendary ships that travelled from the Netherlands to the Bahamas to NYC. Opulent details abound from brass staircases to radiant ballrooms. The outside deck is a wonderful space indeed.
So while they may be nit-picky, here’s the bad…
1. The rooms are hot & stuffy (yes, we’re here in July, but the weather this week has not been overly hot. Nights have actually been lovely & cool). The odd thermostat to cool the room just doesn’t really do much with a whimper of slightly cool air coming out of the ceiling vents. On the flip side, the vent above my bed has been dripping water on my feet & legs, so that has been cooling me down!
2. The carpet in our room is sad, old & wrinkled up in almost the whole room. It’s simply overdue to replace.
3. A buzzy electrical panel outside our room & a constant ship hull low droning sound made for an odd experience that one has to just put out of your mind. Sometimes that would work, and sometimes was maddening which made you feel like Johnny in The Shining.
4. These old ships have solid porthole windows in the rooms, so if you’re adverse to even the slightest breeze, then this is place for you!
5. The staff is very friendly, but desperately undertrained. I know it’s not their fault and they were trying, but in the end, one of the servers did not know how to work the credit card machine, and two bartenders did not know how to make the old fashioned which was right on their menu. HINT: it’s whiskey, simple syrup & bitters— not that overly complicated.
6. One of the fun things I thought would be cool here was exploring this legendary beautiful ship, but came to find out that much of the ship is closed off— only available on paid tours. So yeah, I don’t know, that is kind of lame to charge you extra for a tour of your own ship that you’re already paying to stay there.
7. Weird energy. I truly love historic things. It’s why I booked this place. But there’s a strange vibe here. Kind of feels cool to be able to stay on a vintage ship, but oddly dated in the worst way possible. I can’t really explain it fully, it’s just the feeling I get.
My final thoughts are that I truly love the IDEA of the SS Rotterdam. It’s quite an awesome sight! But until they completely revamp these weird, less than modern day standards, this place is a no-go in my opinion. My guess is that old retirees might love this place, but if you’re under 80 years old, then maybe stay somewhere else, and just take the paid tour ;-)

Too expensive for this quality
The breakfast buffet was very good and varied.
Unfortunately the topper on the single bed was not fixed to the mattress so it was a little slippery when seating on it.
Sometimes water was dripping from the ventilation grille in the ceiling.
After the 1st night my room was not cleaned.
The small refrigerator in the closet did not work although it was connected. Unfortunately this was not fixed during my stay.
