The owners were wonderful nothing was too much trouble. This was a traditional hanok stay so you are sleeping on the hard floor which for my western body was challenging to get comfortable and sleep. For one night to experience it give it a go but be prepared for an experience akin to camping on the ground.
The hanok was full so it was quite busy until about 11:30pm and therefore the automatic lights kept going on and you can hear the other rooms but once everything settled down it was silent. Its location is very central to all the traditional things you come to Jeonju for.
One word of advice we were getting the early train to Seoul and you can’t pre-book taxis but we had no trouble getting a taxi at 6am near the cathedral and there is also a bus we didn’t use from the same place.

Bathroom could be cleaner. A new soap, extra toilet paper and towels would have been nice.

Traditional Korean House
Stayed for two nights in the Cradle room.
The building is on a side street off Eunhaeng-ro. DON'T try to walk via Taejo-ro because there's no way through without walking via another building.
Entry is via a small gate, leading into a lovely little garden. There's a little room to the right which is a sort of kitchenette where the staff works, while the guest rooms are arranged around the garden. My room was about the size of a small double room, with an ensuite bathroom, TV, small cabinet and a fridge. The mattress and quilt were stowed away during the day and laid out on the floor at night. The combination of mattress and floor was like sleeping on a very firm mattress. The firmness was harder than I prefer. There's no chairs, so sitting on the floor is the only option. The floor is heated, so it's comfortable sitting and sleeping.
The bathroom has been updated to be more modern, but it's still really just an open bathroom with the toilet and shower in the same area. Liquid soup, shampoo and conditioner were supplied.
Every morning, breakfast was served in the room. With the door open, there was an unimpeded view of the garden. A fantastic way to start the morning. Although the breakfast was nice, coffee was not served.
The architecture of the house is traditional Korean Hanok with lots of timber, paper and tube tiles roofs. The house is beautiful and the room cosy but feels very homely. It has been updated for guest comfort, but it's not perfect considering the cost of the stay. I understood that there would be compromises in comfort when staying in a traditional house, so I'm happy to give 5 stars.
Location wise, the Hanok is located in the heart of the village. Everything is within walking distance including Gyeonggijeon Shrine andPungnammun Gate, although Jeonju Hyanggyo Confucian School, museums and culture centres to the south east are about 20 minutes walk.

This is a charming Hanok in an excellent location. Jeon was a wonderful host, and we appreciated the breakfast each morning.
