Great Experience "Hanok" Stay
This is authentic traditional Korean house with ondol heating, and modern-style private bathrooms attached to the rooms. Traditional Korean Food Served, 8am Sharp sharp, like mum wake you up in the morning!
Yangsajae is not only a hanok accommodation but also a multi-experience space where guests can discover traces of the old educational institute and the poet Lee’s life and works.
If you want to try something new or experience traditional korean culture, i highly recommended Yangsajae.

Loved the place and it's historical significance
I booked my family here for 1 night. We got the family rooms to make sure we had enough space with 3 people to 1 room and it was just right. I saw the other rooms and they looked quite small, maybe good enough for 2 people plus luggage but not 3 as listed. It would be too tight a fit.
Reservation. Based on online listings it was fully booked but as always, you know they usually have extra rooms not listed online. You just have to contact them directly for it. So I had our guide contact them prior and put down a 50% payment reservation for us. They only speak a little English so independent travelers might have a problem with that. Ours all went smoothly thanks to our guide Juno from TOP Korea. The owner even gave us postcards to drop into his mailbox for free to send to whomever we want.
Rooms. As I said, they are small as expected from any old Hanok. Get the family rooms for more space if you're 3 people. As for bathroom, I especially noted Yangsajae because the bathroom was bigger and there was an actual space to shower in. Most hanoks in Jeonju had shower heads attached to the sink. That's it. When you shower, you will basically be sitting on the toilet seat because that's how small they are. Yangsajae had bathrooms for the family room built at the back of the old hanok building. Like an annex so yes, spacious enough. For heating, the traditional broiler system heating the floors was HOT. We stayed in March and the temp was around 6 celcius but by middle of the night you can just take everything off and sleep naked due to the heat. Bedding, same as with Japanese tatami rooms. It will be hard even with the layers. It's the floor.
Breakfast. Light and and simple. The pictures online showed fish. We had egg omelettes asian style along with other types of veggies and rice. It was ok.
History. This is one of the oldest hanoks in the area. True, it has been renovated but it's where scholars stayed before in the Joseun dynasty as they studied at the Confucian school nearby. Can't get more authentic than that.
