Great place to stay, but dogs were a problem.
The hotel was a great place to stay for our family vacation. The staff was very friendly and accommodating. My only concern was the amount of dogs that were on the property. The barking dogs inside the rooms while their owners were away was a total disruption to our stay. I love dogs and have a dog myself, although I don't bring it on vacation. I understand dogs are only allowed on two floors, but the barking permeates the entire hotel. For this reason, sadly I probably won't come back.

Excellent location and service, but disappointing room assignment
The location of this hotel is excellent—just about a block and a half from the beach entrance. It is extremely convenient that they provide beach chairs, umbrellas, towels, and beach badges, making it very easy to enjoy the beach without bringing your own equipment. They also have a few bicycles available for guests, which were useful for getting around, although they could definitely use some maintenance.
Another highlight was the outstanding service. The owner was incredibly friendly, welcoming, and attentive throughout our stay, which made us feel very well taken care of.
There is no parking, and it's difficult to find a spot on the nearby streets. So if you find a place to park, leave your car there and do everything by bike.
Unfortunately, our biggest disappointment was the room. We were traveling as a family of four, and I specifically booked a suite described as including 1 living room, 1 separate bedroom, and 1 bathroom, with 3 beds (1 King and 2 Queen beds). The description was very clear when I made the reservation. I booked a KING SUITE. And the pictures were very clear about that.
However, the room we received was completely different. It was much smaller, had no separate living room, and only had one King bed plus one single bed with another pull-out single bed underneath. The room was so small that there wasn't enough space for our luggage—we actually had to store our suitcases in the bathroom.
I went to the front desk immediately to explain that this was not the room I had reserved and paid for. They told me the hotel was fully booked and that this was the only room available. Something clearly wasn't right—either the room listing was inaccurate, or someone else was given the suite I had booked. Unfortunately, there was nothing they could do, and I had no choice but to accept the room.
That was a real disappointment and, in my opinion, not a fair outcome for us.
Despite this issue, I would still recommend the hotel because of its fantastic location, the beach amenities, and the genuinely excellent hospitality. I just hope they ensure that future guests receive the room type they actually reserve. It wasn't fair what you did to our family.

3 Days and things were wonderful. I'll be back!!!
I don't know where my original review was, but I know I sent one in about a week after we left.
Let me first say that I am very picky, right off the bat if the owners and staff were not so welcoming and helpful, I would have left immediately, But it was just the opposite. From the time I made the reservation (in person since I only live about 3 miles from the hotel) I was immediately greeted by a friendly face. It turned out that this woman was the owner of the establishment and extremely helpful in answering all my questions. I have had many of my European clients stay at the Grenville Inn and not one complaint, in fact one of them comes to NJ every year and stays at the Grenville... NO COMPLAINTS.
We had 7 rooms and the rooms were clean and more than adequate.
The business meetings that I held (right in the hotel) during the 3 days that we were there were absolutely successful. I attributed this to the fact that everyone was pleased with the service, rooms, location, etc.
I have recommended many people who have stayed at the Grenville and not a one had a complaint.
I and my clients will return next year (if not sooner) Since it snowed everyday we were there they did not have the benefit of walking the beach and believe me they tried and did their best without complaining.. We have no control over Mother Nature!!!
In fact since my company involves only seasonal periods of time, I have invited the visitors from Spain to come back during August when the weather is nicer and we won't be involved consumed with business.. it's in a great area and a place to relax in with very friendly atmosphere!!
I can't say enough about our stay and what a success it was!!!!

Underrated and needs more of a following!
The restaurant was excellent. Shrimp bisque and pistachios crusted sea bass were outstanding. Entertainment was great. Don’t understand why it wasn’t busier. Deserves much more attention. Breakfast needs more unsweetened items, plain yogurt etc.
