Great stay, cocktails and dinner!

Very cool place to stay and to eat! Historic building, yet very comfortable and clean. Great to have such a terrific restaurant on site! Very popular, so make a reservation for dinner. Staff was attentive. Great breakfast. Fun cocktails.

Very disappointing stay

We stayed one night. Our room was in very poor condition - old and dirty.

Wonderful Discovery!

This is a charming little restaurant in an Inn and all are part of a very historical property in Blue Hill Maine. The restaurant is quaint and charming. Furnished appropriately for its history.
The plates are more like tapas, food comes out as it is prepared. There are numerous options for sharing. Food and service are excellent.
Highly recommend this restaurant and also highly recommend that you call ahead.
Seating is limited.

Rude staff

We loved this restaurant under previous owners. Now it's more of a tapas restaurant. We reserved for three. Got there, went in and found ourselves by the bar with no staff in sight except the woman at the bar register. So we went there and ordered, sat out on the deck. Get home and find a message saying we had failed to show up and a fee would be charged. Called them, explained that we did in fact show up but they double down on the claim that they had reserved a table for three and had turned people away. Since we sat on the deck we saw that no one was turned away. Anyhow, they decided 20 minutes past our reservation time that we were a no-show. Very unhappy experience. The food was fine.

Excellent Accommodations & Restaurant

What a GREAT autumn getaway to Blue Hill, Maine. Barncastle Hotel & Restaurant couldn't have been better. I arrived in a torrential downpour to welcoming hosts, a warm & cozy guest room and, delicious soul soothing cuisine. The new owners, Lizzie & Owen, went above and beyond. The highlight of the weekend was definitely the food. The menu, quality and presentation of the meals was like being in a high end restaurant in NYC. I am still dreaming about the Smoked Squash Soup topped with crab meat and spiced pepitas. So good!! Lizzie helped me select the perfect red wine to bring upstairs and enjoy in my room. The area is gorgeous with lots of hiking and amazing views from the top of Blue Hill Mountain. Only an hour from Bar Harbor and Acadia National Park, I took a day trip there, had lunch and explored. Thanks for the memorable visit!! Looking forward to the next time!
