Don't Be Afraid to Give Colton Court A Try!
I have stayed at Colton Court Motor Inn before and have always been satisfied. I do not mind at all that this is not a posh, 5-star hotel. I am happy to be comfortable in a clean environment. Colton Court has always been clean. Yes, it could use some TLC here and there. Most of it can be over-looked unless you are a super picky person.
This stay, a friend of mine and I stayed in the 3 bedroom/2 bath townhouse unit so we would each have a nice bed to sleep in rather than someone sleeping on a pull-out couch. We found the unit to be very, very comfortable with all the amenities that anyone could need. Our stay was short but this unit would be comfortable for an extended stay for sure. At least 8 people could stay in this unit. And at least one baby as there was a crib in the large closet of the one bedroom.
This unit has a living/dining/kitchen area that is roomy. Refridgerator has water and ice dispenser in the door. There is a full size stove and microwave. All you basic kitchen needs are provided, including some extras in the cabinets such as a large pot for soup or crabs. Two different coffee makers, one a Kuerig. There is even a garbage disposal in the sink. A washer and dryer is provided as well. There are two entrances to the unit, one on the ground floor and one upstairs.
The large bedroom with a (I think) king bed has beautiful views of the beach and ocean and sunrise. The entire unit has plenty of windows if you like widows open. I will say a few of the windows, as well as the storm door on the lower level, could use fixing so that they have screens in them and can be opened. It would be wonderful to have a screen door on the upper level, too, for letting air flow through the room on days you can open up. We had beautiful weather for October and had windows open the whole stay. There is also central heat and central air conditioning in the unit. The upstairs bathroom has its own heater separate from the rest of the unit.
The living/dining/kitchen area is downstairs with a small but complete bathroom, including small shower with a nice shower head. Upstairs are the three bedrooms and 2nd bathroom. As mentioned, the one bedroom with ocean views is large and has a large closet as well as direct access to the bathroom. That bathroom is not, however, private to the master bedroom. It is shared and has an entrance from the hallway as well. The other two bedrooms are good sized, one with I believe a queen bed, the other with twin beds. Hair dryers are provided in both bathrooms. Soap, towels are plentiful. This is not a five star hotel, so no shampoo, lotions, etc.
With a bit of paint touch up and fixing the windows, this unit would be pretty much pristeen. The carpeting is not even worn out. It is decorated in mostly browns and dark wood colored furniture except for the one bedroom with white furniture. The hassock/coffee table in the living area is filled with games for the family! Four tvs in the room, one in each bedroom and of course, one in the living room. They are all smart tvs and reception was really good. We also had no trouble keeping connected to the Wifi.
This hotel has a small pool.
This year (although I haven't stayed since 2016 til now) a very nice gentleman has been in the office. I find him much gentler than the original woman who used to be in the office, who was a bit gruff and rough around the edges, although she was NOT nasty or unkind, in my experiences...just a little more like a truck driver than a hotel manager.
Lastly, I did not think the price of approximately $500 for two nights in this very large and comfortable unit was bad at all for October rates. Some hotels rooms were nearly that price for one night.
Don't be afraid of the bad reviews I've seen on here about Colton Court. If you basicly want a clean place to sleep and are not super picky, I think you'd enjoy this hotel. Yes, a bit of musty smell upon first entering room, but it's across from the ocean, it's bound to happen. Take a fabric freshener with you or throw the windows open.

Not repeating - NO Coffee, NO Service, EXTREMELY dated.
Came with family in November on a whim. Morning realized they don't even give coffee. To get coffee one has to drive 5 min. Nope. Everything at face looked clean and decent. But my God - is everything old and held up with Band Aid. Wallpaper - peeling off walls, doors - barely hanging, furniture - horribly scratched, falling apart, corridor used to move room to room - narrow and trouble navigating, door locks - still key based and felt like falling apart. Frankly, other than the location being great and looked reasonably clean - there's NOTHING in this hotel. Oh - the pillows are horrendous.

Go someplace else.
Made our reservations for three nights a month ago. Upon arrival we were informed two nights in one room then we need to move to another room. This did not sit well with us and we tried to talk reasonably to old man at desk to no avail. I'm not packing everything up to change rooms for one night! We were never notified of this room switcheroo so we canceled our third night. The old man couldn't have cared less. Extremely unprofessional.
Room was ok. However, there were no toiletries, no top sheet! Dirty sheet on bed. Nasty bedspread. Never going back.

Great Beach View!!!
What a pleasant surprise. Stayed on the second floor so we could see the beach and the ocean, unfortunately no Whales this week that we could see even with binoculars. Room was totally. remodeled all new kitchen and cabinets, new coffee maker (not Keurig). and a new toaster, full kitchen utensils. Bathroom was new and totally remodeled, step in glass shower and fully tiled! King bed was comfy great pillows.!! Will definitely stay again!!!

Never Again
After reading other reviews, I booked a night here hoping it had improved. It hadn't. It was as bad as described. Musty smell. Black mold in heating/cooling wall unit. No top sheet on one of the two beds. No shampoo or conditioner. Bathroom sink faucet wasn't attached to sink so moved all over. Had a Keurig coffee maker and cups - but no coffee! Wet carpet. TV cable didn't work and had to have front desk guy come up and fix it. He was grumpy every time he talked to me in person or on the phone. When I made the reservation weeks before, he confirmed I had the room I wanted on the end closest to the beach. When I arrived - he gave me a different room, said someone else was in the room, insisted he hadn't been the one I spoke with (he was) and didn't know anything about it. And wouldn't give me anything in writing until I checked out.
