Short and Sweet
This was one of the least expensive options with similar accommodations in the area. While the parking is tight (designed for compact cars), the rooms are spacious, clean, and just the right amount of amenities for a one or two day stay: fridge, microwave, tv, blow dryer. Beds were comfortable, plenty of pillows, did not even need to use a blanket. (AC works great, but we only used it initially to cool off the room.) We had an upstairs room in the middle and did not experience any noise, despite being right off the main road. Large window in room to open as well as a small one in the bathroom. Bathroom was clean, plenty of towels, tp, toiletries, plenty of room in the shower. The staff was friendly and did not have any issues with check in or check out. Perfect spot when visiting Carpenteria or the Santa Barbara area as it is just minutes to our destinations.

Gets the job done!
It certainly isn’t the most luxurious hotel out there— especially in the area it’s in, but if you are simply looking for a clean place to sleep for a reasonable price, this is it. Had coffee in the morning, clean and hot showers, soft enough beds, and most of all was didn’t feel gross. Management is generally reasonable enough and we appreciated interacting with them.

Eh, So-So
Pool and hot tub have been drained and appear to be in need of resurfacing however the website does not state this. Very disappointing.
I gave it 2 stars for having hot water, electricity, and a clean room (although small). I would have given more stars for an operational pool and hot tube, proper lock on the door, better insulation to drown out other guests and freeway noise, bigger parking area, and breakfast.

Great stay and wallet friendly!
Loved our stay at Sandyland Reef. The beautiful hacienda style courtyard had us wondering if James Dean or Frankie Avalon stayed here. I booked a room based only on price. I was very surprised at the low ratings on TripAdvisor. This is a privately owned hotel, so don't compare to the chain hotels. Breakfast was not included, but the savings on lodging more than made up for that. Complimentary coffee provided in the office.
Our room was very clean. The only problem we had was parking. Only one parking space per room. My husband and his buddy rode motorcycles, and I was driving truck with a small trailer. Finally configured all vehicles into 2 parking spaces. Would definitely stay here again.

Worst hotel experience ever !
If you want to enjoy the noise of the freeway, you must choose this motel. It is impossible to sleep in the rooms above the reception. The windows are as thin as paper. I express my disappointment to the person of the reception and she answer than she knows but it is a queen size room... OK queens don't have the right to sleep. It is only for kings !
