Don’t let the exterior fool you. While it looks like they are working to improve the exterior of the property, our room was very clean and newly updated. The AC worked great and I loved that the ceiling fan had a remote I could control from bed. The staff were kind, and check in was quick and easy!

When you drive up to this hotel, don't be frightened...It was built in 1926 (I believe) and the 2nd floor railing looks that old. However, there are 3 rooms on the 1st floor (you have to ask for them specifically!) that are lovely. There are 2 large beds and a nice bathroom. The room was clean and the beds were very comfortable. However, the 2nd bed was perpendicular to the first and there it was very tight to walk around it (you basically had to get in from the front of the bed.
My daughter is disabled and NEEDED a 1st floor room.. we stopped there early in the day to tell the owner this. He said "maybe" that he would have to check with the other guest who was supposed to have that room. When we returned the other guest hadn't arrived and we basically INSISTED that we have the 1st floor. He finally agreed after about 30 minutes of hassling him. Not sure what we would have done...there are very limited hotels (3 on that road) to accommodate.
The restuarant - The Ponderosa- across the street was FABULOUS!!! GO EAT THERE.
There were no amenities to comment on. There was coffee, apples and a few bars for the morning breakfast.

Loved staying at this historic hotel with great charm and unique styles in each room. The staff was very friendly and helpful during our stay. We will definitely stay here again in the winter season.

One of the more important areas to be clean is the bathroom, which was not. The floor had a disgusting rug in front of the toilet. The vinyl floor has maybe never been cleaned from edge to edge. Layers of dirt in the corners. And the use of white linens would be an improvement. And white paint on ceilings, walls & trim would be an improvement and still have that historical decor.

Other reviews were not flattering but this is a 97 year old building. Stairs creak, the wood exterior is weathered. With that being said the bathrooms were clean, furniture matched old style era. Coffee and snacks in the lobby was an excellent treat.
Old western style balcony access from the rooms upstairs. This is not a new property with newer style rooms so don’t expect it but for a good comfortable night to sleep and simple amenities it is great.
