Beautiful Hotel, But the Neighborhood Feels a Bit Uncomfortable

The hotel itself is wonderful — beautiful, clean, and very quiet. The staff were friendly, and everything inside felt safe and well cared for. There’s even a lovely enclosed courtyard that you can only access from inside the hotel, which makes it a great, secure spot for kids to play outside.
However, the neighborhood surrounding the hotel did make me a bit uneasy. There’s a homeless housing facility directly across the street, and there are quite a few people in the area throughout the day. If I had been traveling with my husband, it wouldn’t have bothered me as much, but since it was just me and my youngest daughter, I felt a little uncomfortable when we were coming and going.
Overall, it’s a beautiful and comfortable place to stay, but travelers — especially women or families traveling alone — may want to be aware of the surroundings.

Location to avoid

The hotel was clean, comfortable, limited coffee hours (available after 8 am) and varied staff help- check in nice, check out hard to find staff, who seemed annoyed w us. The location is stressful. The hotel is on an L shaped dead end. You have to drive slowly down a street that has people standing in it - sometimes a few, sometimes >20, narrowing the road and some acting erratically; in front of a homeless shelter next door. People walk in and out of the neighboring highway underpass where there is a small encampment. My kid has now seen a person not wearing pants and people using IV drugs. The end of the street is industry. Sometimes there was parking lot security, sometimes none seen. Each trip to/from was sad and stressful.

Not a typical Marriott

I love staying at Mariotts, but this hotel is in a very shady area, there is a homeless encampment right next to the hotel. The room smelled musty, the toilet paper holder was falling out of the wall, there were stains on the carpet and couch. The bed seemed clean, but you could hear noises all night long which didn't allow for a good night's sleep. The security did walk me to my car since I had to leave around 3 am for a flight, but unless there is no other choice, I would not recommend staying here.

Wonderful hotel with amazing staff

I stay here whenever I’m in town for weeks at a time and they never disappoint. I know there are a lot of concerns about the homeless shelter next door but the building is secure and security does a really good job keeping them off property. Housekeeping staff are also great, rooms are always super clean and well kept. My favorite part about the hotel is the amazing team at the front desk. Robert the manager, Blessyn, and Gas are always eager to assist with a friendly smile. They are all super attentive and helpful, and make you feel welcomed. The bar/bistro, outside Courtyard area, fitness center, and pool are all really great amenities that come in handy. Overall, I truly love this property and believe they don’t get enough credit.

Security and Safety not included!

My car got broken into by a homeless person in the middle of the night due to there being a homeless shelter right next door. If I would have known this before booking I would have never booked this hotel. Upon arrival late that evening, I was even tempted to cancel my room in order to look elsewhere when I was advised that I would still be charged for a full two nights stay. The next morning the front office lady couldn’t do anything to help, and basically did nothing and said to me, “it’s park at your own risk.” There was also a security guard on campus at all times, which did absolutely nothing to deter the break in, who denied seeing or hearing anything. The security guard also admitted to only having just TWO security cameras on the whole property. So I have the choice of being out $400 or risk my safety, and getting my car broken into? I asked her to have her manager call me about the situation, and they never reached out. She also promised me 2,000 points on my Marriott bonvoy account which I never received. This stay/interaction was bad enough to convince myself to never want to stay at a hotel managed by this specific company EVER again. I couldn’t even get a hold of a person, at any point, over the phone and multiple attempts have been made. I am so very disappointed, and will be informing many of my friends and family who love to travel. I am a small single female who was traveling ALONE when I had checked into my room. Shame on you Marriott Bonvoy for putting profits above the safety and security of your customers. Disgusting.
