Nicest Motel I've Stayed In
Nicest motel I've stayed in! Great room, feels brand new. Very clean. Comfortable bed. Cute coffee shop downstairs. Easy parking. Can't wait to stay here again.

Attractive rooms, unpleasant stay
stayed at La Vista a few weeks ago and had a pretty mixed experience. The room itself was stylish and thoughtfully designed — definitely the highlight of the stay. The attached cafe/bar, El Piñon, also had very friendly staff, which I appreciated.
Unfortunately, the rest of the experience fell short. There appears to be no easy way to modify a booking on your own -- instead, only through digging through emails and confirmations to finally figure out that there is no way to modify a reservation besides direct outreach. Communicating with Effortless Stay, the property management company, was frustrating. Their communication was unfriendly and inconsistent. I had to make a VERY last minute change to my stay because of an unexpected and unavoidable business trip, and trying to communicate was tough. They did accommodate my change request to a new date -- with unfriendly communications and an additional fee for the new date.
During my stay, I was awakened both nights by what sounded like an animal in the roof above my room - scratching and digging. There was also a person screaming and coughing in the stairwell directly below my room, which was both disruptive and made me feel unsafe. On top of that, there was very little lighting near the outside of the room, so when I checked in after dark, I could barely see the keypad to enter the code.
On checkout day, a cleaner knocked on my door 30 minutes before checkout. I was indisposed and slow to answer, and he kept knocking repeatedly. I would not expect to be interrupted before the official checkout time for the room I had paid for.
The bed was average comfort. Amenities in the kitchen were helpful (silverware, dishes, etc.). The bathroom has one of those idiotic showers that has no door and so water goes everywhere.
The walls are also quite thin, which may not be surprising for this style of motel, and parking is very limited, though that is at least mentioned on the motel’s website.
Overall, the design is fun, but the operational issues, noise, and Effortless Stays communication made this a disappointing stay.
