Good, but not great

Quaint hotel which is situated next to the haunted Jennie Wade house. Easy walking to different shops and eateries. Room was ok. Shower was really HOT at full blast and the bathroom was large. Beds were VERY uncomfortable, but I am a self-proclaimed bed and pillow snob. Bed was hard and pillows were too squishy and flat. Small TV (for those who are interested, but we didn't watch it.) We were on the 3rd deck and it was near the smoking area, which led to us smelling smoke the first night. It seemed to dissipate the next two nights. Breakfast was ok, but filling. We had no paranormal experiences, much to the chagrin of my teen twins. The price couldn't be beat though to be close to a lot of downtown Gettysburg.

We appreciate your review. The room you were in was just renovated within the last two years. New mattresses and box springs. And the pillows are fairly new as well. We realize that we can't please everyone when it comes to bedding. And as for the Free breakfast, it is one of the best around. Huge selection of both hot and cold items. And the best part about it is it is FREE! Better than paying the prices for food today! The TV's are standard commercial TV's. Most folks come to Gettysburg to see the sights. They don't spend too much time watching TV. We are glad to hear that you appreciated being within walking distance to most of the attractions and shops. Sure beats those gas prices when you can walk to mostly everything.

Fantastic Stay at 1863 Inn of Gettysburg!

5 stars for the 1863 Inn! The location is unbeatable for exploring Gettysburg's shops and dining. Our room was clean and comfy, the breakfast was delicious, and the staff is top-notch. It’s also a huge plus that they are so welcoming to pets; our pup enjoyed her stay as much as we did. Highly recommend!!

Go, book with confidence.

One of the best locations in town. There are other, more modern, lodgings in the overall area but this is the best for those who appreciate convenience without the burden of finding parking every time they want to see something. Value is neither cheap nor expensive, but dollars here well spent. Rooms are your standard issue sixties style but well maintained, as is the hotel overall. They seem to take great pride in upkeep, certainly a welcome trait not always undertaken by some of the lesser offerings. Cleanliness, an excellent staff, zero issues.
Complaints? None really but fair warning, what they call "frontside" can be a touch noisy, the back of the complex might be a better choice if you're a light sleeper. The included self-serve breakfast brings a good variety but some items, especially in the early hours, might not yet be fully heated. Only a couple quite minor points, in room AC had a fan that rattled loudly and took some time to get used to and the toilet, which seemed to be a problem to only our room, took a world's record time to refill.

Wonderful

We were just at the 1863 Inn of Gettysburg. Excellent place! In the middle of all attractions-Jennie Wade House, Orphanage Battlefield etc.. The staff was very nice and accomidating. We had an issue with our air conditioner/heater and maintenance staff was there in minutes. Never ran out of towels, toilet paper, tissue. Continental breakfast and we brought our Boston Terrier with! Thanks for a great stay! :)

We have a great staff and they work very hard to make sure that every guest receives a clean. comfortable room and that every guest receives the service that they expect and deserve. Our breakfast is one of the best around, our rates are reasonable, you can't beat the location and we do love our furry friends here! We are very proud of this hotel. Don’t stay, boiler is broken and there is no hot water in Building.

Don’t stay, no hot water, they’ll tell you at check in when you arrive but who wants to ride the roads all night looking for another spot.

We assure you that the issue with the boiler was addressed immediately! We certainly didn't expect it to happen! We would have been happy to help you find another hotel. It was early evening when you arrived. You decided to stay. Our repair folks worked for 26 hours straight! Things happen that we can't foresee just as they do at your home. We did everything we could to correct the problem. Most of our guests were very understanding. It's sad that you were not one of them. By the way. we do have hot water now....
