Great Find for our Annual CKHS Alumni Event
Tonya was our Event Coordinator for both events and I have NEVER had to NOT worry about the anything the way I can if she is in charge. Her attention detail by incorporating our class colors and memorabilia into the décor of the banquet room was the personal touch you just don't find anymore. The group agrees, without her, we'd be looking for another venue because we are all out of state and can't be the feet on the ground that she, specifically, provides. Special thanks to recognizing we are a group of chain smokers and keeping all of our rooms with easy access to the garage and repeating the same banquet room that opens out to the Tiki/smoking area, well.... that was definitely appreciated by all. She's a true gem and any Event Venue is lucky to have her.
The location is walking distance to the Ohio River Front and the recently revitalized downtown shopping and entertainment. So many things to do, you'd need a week to see it all. It's just amazing what they've done with the "Super Block" that sat for 30+ years looking like an 80's horror movie.
The inground pool and Tiki area are enclosed by the hotel and not visible from the street, very private and secluded. There were numerous little league ball teams there this time, but we didn't hear a thing. The pool is plenty big enough with ample seating that it didn't feel crowded with all the kids coming and going.
Fantastic rooms with amazing views of the river, if you have an even number and high floor. I was on Floor 9, room 916 this year and the morning views were breathtaking. I couldn't wait to get up and watch the sunrise over the river and the mountains. My room wasn't even in the remodeled area but it was super clean, well equipped and maintained, the value was definitely there.
There is a bar inside the hotel and breakfast is served in the banquet room daily. Very good selection of items for any palate and everything was fresh and hot no matter what time you showed up. I heard there was a restaurant on site, but didn't try it, yet. The pictures on the elevator walls were mouth watering though. We skipped it this year because we were able to have all the local foods catered in for our banquet night and who doesn't love Stewart's Hot Dogs???
I grew up in the area and remember when this hotel was originally built. It was always the "fancy hotel" downtown and it's wonderful to see it's STILL the "fancy hotel" downtown. Very well maintained and the staff has true West Virginia hospitality to offer. Even when I needed to add a night at the last minute they were accommodating and kept me in my same room. True customer service, striving to keep the customer in vacation mode and not stressed about anything.
If you are coming to the area for ANY reason, I would highly recommend this Hotel and if you are planning an event, definitely request Tonya as your event coordinator, she's local to the area and knows all the secrets.

Excellent Venue with Event Coordinator Tonya Ward for our Class Reunion
If you are having an event you must see Tonya Ward, event coordinator for Doubletree. She was fantastic, she had great ideas, was easy to work with and helped to make our very special event a success! Tonya began working with our committee a year in advance, she was able to find answers for all our questions, and she always made us feel comfortable through all the planning stages. She also was very nice, professional, and well spoken.
Tonya was with us both nights and she made sure that everything was set up as planned. The event room was beautiful both nights. The buffet was excellent, everyone loved the food. We appreciated the extra attention that both Tonya and Rhonda Carter gave us.
If you want a special venue see Tonya Ward at Doubletree, she will bring your event to life! She is excellent!
