We visited Jackson with family and all of us enjoyed our stay. The staff was so friendly, making sure we knew where all the amenities were located. They even checked in with us via text to make sure our stay was going well. 10 out 10

Good gold country experience
A step back in time! Small room, but we expected that. Bathroom was large (in comparison to the room!), with plenty of thick towels, etc. Bed was comfy. The bar downstairs was a good vibe and the overall experience was a fun one for the night.

Thank you for the great review, Diane and we are so happy you experienced our Historic Hotel which has been mostly preserved. The bathrooms were added years ago and yes some of the rooms the bathroom is large especially the ones with the whirlpool. We are proud of our hotel and Duke's restaurant. We hope that you will come back and visit stay for a few days and experience the great town too.

When I checked in, I asked if an upgrade was possible because I wanted a room with a Queen Bed and a balcony but at the time I made the reservation, it wasn't available. Tamra checked immediately and found one. She even gave me the upgrade without charging me extra for it. Thank you, Tamra! I was very happy with the room. From the balcony (furnished with a table and comfy chairs) I could see all the way down historic Main Street. Also, I'm an early riser and found freshly made coffee in the lobby at 5:45 AM. Everyone in the hotel, restaurant and bar were helpful and friendly. They told me about the history of the hotel and showed me special places in it, like the Red Room. Thanks, Chrissy. (I hope I got your name right.) I really enjoyed my stay at The National Hotel in Jackson.

The hotel was amazing! Just perfect. Bed was comfortable, AC worked, shower was great. Loved everything!

Gave away our reservation!
Traveling from the Redwood Forest to Yosemite with my wife and two kids I thought the perfect place to stop and stay the night would be the historic National Hotel in Jackson CA. I booked two adjoining balcony rooms overlooking the old downtown Main Street several months prior to our planed visit.
We arrived at the National Hotel after a long six hour driver ready to rest and see the sites of the old gold mining town. Upon check in we were told there was a problem with our reservation and that the adjoining rooms we reserved were not available. I provided my confirmation number to which the woman behind the counter replied yes I know “I’m the one who took your reservation but we gave it to someone else.” While I was upset I politely moved forward and we had just travel a long distance and we were exhausted. I asked if they had two other adjoining rooms to accommodate our stay. After a couple of minutes she came back with “I can get you into rooms 302 and 306, they’re close together, just one room separating them.” I explained the reason I booked adjoining rooms is because I was traveling with two children. Unfortunately she had no solution. I stepped outside to see if I could find appropriate accommodations elsewhere and ended up booking an additional night at the Firefly Ranch at our final destination outside of Yosemite.
I returned to the check-in area to find the manager engaged in conversation with my wife. He stated “we do have other adjoining rooms” but was quickly corrected by the woman helping us that they were already taken to which he replied “well we do have other adjoining adjoining rooms just not for you.”
I told them we would be moving on to which the woman replied she would see if she could refund our stay which eventually she did.
When we returned from vacation I reached out to Hilton, explained the situation and asked if they could assist in way of a credit due to the fact the ordeal caused not only disappointment and extended our already long drive but over $300 more than we budgeted due to the last minute change in accommodations.
The first reply from Hilton offered an apology and assurances that we were not charged for the room. I responded asking if they could help offset the costs with a credit for an upcoming Hilton reservation we had and provided the confirmation number for our upcoming stay. I received a response almost a week later stating that they could offer me 10,000 Hilton Honors points, the equivalent of $55.
So here we are writing a long review because of poor customer service all the way around from Hilton, despite several efforts to come to a fair resolution.
Bottom line. Hilton failed to provide a fair resolution at every turn despite their egregious error.
Hiltons knows how to take the reservation they just don’t know how to HOLD the reservation.

We have answered your other review on Google and again we are sorry you were not happy. We can offer you points as well. We are reprimanding the front desk to promise adjoining rooms when we only have 35 rooms in our hotel and sometimes, we do have issues in rooms we cannot promise such as air due to it was built in 1862 and renovated a few times. Our GM tried to work it for you but you refused. Again we value our guest and we are sorry we did nto meet your expectations.
