Clean room and friendly staff. The pool was very small, maximum occupancy of 6, but the kids still enjoyed it. Breakfast was good.

Thieves

It was awful experience. Whilst staying here they took 6 transactions out my account when they shouldn’t as it was paid in full with booking.com. They said they have refunded it but the last £605 they took out left me with nothing. I had a 6 month old baby with me and had no money for my last day and to travel home with. Absolute joke of a hotel and not one of the staff wanted to help, stay away from this hotel as there thieves

The elevator was dirty both days I stayed Sat. And Sun. My kids wanted to stay at a hotel with a pool. I paid an extra day to stay for them to swim. There were no towels for guests. I had to leave 3 kids unattended at the pool to get towels. I saw hotel staff in the hall way and asked for 3 towels. Two women responded it’s my break. And I’m on lunch. Go ask the front desk. The front desk lady Tonya was rude. She called me the wrong name and asked me for ID. Every time I came to the front desk I had to wait 15 min or more to get a receipt or service. My family was treated poorly. If they treat us like this how do they treat other guests here???

Very Disappointing for a Marriott Brand

Very disappointing for a Marriott SHS. Upon arriving at the location, the music was obnoxiously loud. I had never been to this location, but I thought there was a lounge or bar there. It was also a strong smell of marijuana. Upon checking the room, the linens were dirty and stained. I requested two other sets, and the fitted sheet in the set had a stain, and all of it looked dingy. The towels were soiled and dingy. My family felt uncomfortable using them. I ended up going out and purchasing clean towels and washcloths. I chose this location because it said that they had a no-pet policy, which is much appreciated since my wife, son, and sisters-in-law are all allergic to pet dander. I should have gone to the Towne Suites or the Courtyard. The staff was about 50/50 on interactions.
Staff:
The desk staff was nice and friendly (which influenced why my score was not lower), but many of the other staff were not pleasant.
Food:
The morning of the 1st day, it was identified that the coffee in the carafe was not hot, and the young lady working the kitchen said, "I would have to brew another pot," and basically did nothing to accommodate the request for fresh coffee. The selection of food was less than adequate. There were only two hot choices: Day 1, powdered scrambled eggs and veggie sausage; Day 2, the same eggs and bacon; Day 3, eggs again, and veggie sausage. Some waffles could be made, but the mix was hit or miss daily- meaning that it was either thick or runny.
Room Comfort:
Mattress felt like someone was in it. I tossed and turned each night due to the mattress being hard to sleep on. I have had back surgery and woke up every day in pain from the mattress. The room was not infested, but we encountered ants on 3-4 occasions. In the bathroom and on the counter where the sink and microwave are. The only day they had bacon, I left the food on the plate covered with another plate while I took a shower and returned to an ant on the bacon/plate. The HVAC system sometimes had the room very cold, and then overnight it would get so stuffy when nothing was changed on the thermostat. My son walked away and was coughing and had a slight temperature.
Cleanliness:
Several areas and personal use items were dirty, which was in an unsanitary condition.
Location:
The area seemed a little shabby. The view from the room was the backyard of a neighborhood that seems not to be well maintained. Broken-down vehicles and untidy yards. I know the location has been there for several years and cannot help that, but the hotel parking lot (several holes) and the interior lobby furniture also made the hotel look shabby.
I don't think I would stay at this location in the future, because it did not meet my expectations of the Marriott chain. I travel often and see many Marriott hotels and locations from Hilton and IHG. As a matter of fact, stayed at a Courtyard in IN in June, stayed at a Fairfield before staying at this location- they were clean and quiet. And currently at an IHG property, and the experiences are like night and day. I have traveled a lot in the past 10-15 years at work and know hotels. This seemed very atypical for the chain.

We knew it wasn’t going to be great when we entered the lobby to an unpleasant smell. There were floor fans with plug in air fresheners to try to cover the smell, but they didn’t help. The smell was worse in the second floor hallway with more fans and air fresheners. Luckily the room didn’t smell. There was huge water stains on the ceiling by the window and chunks of the plaster had fallen down onto the air conditioner. There was also mold on the ceiling in the bathroom. The hotel definitely needs some updating and freshening.
