Its an older Hotels, but kept up pretty good. Bed was comfortable, great view. The Staff was very helpful & kind, parking price was kinda excessive, but what isn't under this administration right now. Area was ok. No complaints.

An Old Hotel
I booked this hotel because of the affordable price and the close proximity to transportation. The hotel is old, my 6th floor room (in the back) had an old stench smell, so I had to open the window for 2 days. The interior fixtures had the 1950s/60s look, even the A/C unit was old school & the window frames were rusted & deteriorating. The room has a mini refrigerator but no microwave, the bed was too soft, and so were the pillows. There is no need for a car, the hotel is located 4 minutes from BART-Misson St, cable car, MUNI train & different bus routes within a brief walking distance. Additionally, there are inexpensive restaurants, stores and a movie theater within a short walking distance.

What I ordered vs. what I received in hotel form
The hotel version of what I ordered... vs what I got .... The photos make this hotel look charming in a vintage classy kind of way.... but it is anything but that. I was so glad that I was only here 1 night. I wish I was there for only 0 nights. It is completely run down. Age does not mean a property has to be dirty and dilapidated either.
From the makeup on the bathroom walls, hand prints on the mirrors in the room, chippped and dirty paint on the walls.... filthy tub that I would not dare step foot in.... paper thin walls, defective air conditioner.... to the sounds coming from the walls every 20 minutes all night long that sounded like the either the pipes or A/C units were falling down a shaft and crashing that startled me all night long... to being able to hear my neighbor vomiting in the shower the next morning as I was I was trying to get ready quickly and leave..... it was a thrilling experience.
The carpets are old and stained. The paint everywhere is chipped and peeling. It was giving Hotel Cecil true crime documentary vibes. Everything is completely run through.... and for hundreds of dollars a night.... I expect more than a truck stop bathroom in a dingy hotel room. Even the curtains were pieced together with tape.
I would rather sleep in a serial killers van before I stay here again. Its definitely cleaner.

Good Location, Hotel in Need to Renovation, Employees Not Helpful
This hotel is over 100 years old, as are many hotels in the area.
This hotel is in need of interior painting and tub replacement.
We were able to check in early. The staff here is adequate, but no one goes out of their way to assist. For example, we asked at the front desk what event across the street had drawn 100’s of people to wait in line. They didn’t know. I googled it and found out that it was an annual party, with 100’s of attendees, and many hotel guests were in town for it.
While in the room, a maid came right in the door. No knocking, no announcement. Just barged right in and then had the audacity to question us if we were guests. She was looking for her cell phone charger. Never apologized.
The a/c in the room did not work, it was suggested that I didn’t know how to turn it on. Take a look at the photos. I work for an HVAC company. I know how to turn on AC.
The tub was an absolute mess. While many renovations had been done, this appears to be a very old tub that had been repainted but the paint is coming off.

Stayed twice at the beginning and end of 3 weeks in California. Great location 2 minutes from Powell BART so very easy for the airport. Big room so no problem with cases, Even a walk in wardrobe. Good links for the city (cable car, trolley and buses) and we also walked to a lot of places. Would certainly stay again.
The only 'drawback' was an extremely rude night receptionist who made life VERY difficult on one night. Considering putting in a formal complaint he was so bad.
