So much better than the Marriott! Lovely place to stay in Seattle
After a terrible experience at Seattle Marriott Waterfront we spent the second leg of our Seattle stay at Palihotel Seattle. What a fantastic choice this was. The hotel is clean, with very funky decor throughout. Our room was huge with a comfy bed and lovely shower. We arrived during the heatwave and unfortunately our rooms air con was not working. We were immediately offered two different rooms, however they were much smaller. The hotel then provided 2 high power fans, which kept the room cool. A fantastic stay, especially after our Marriott disaster. Will definitely stay here again.

Stay somewhere else in Seattle
Location one street up from Pike Place Market and the waterfront was excellent and along with the fabulous food and staff in the restaurant and bar is the only reason for giving 2 stars one for each of the only positives I could find.
The rest of the hotel was a huge disappointment and a case of style over substance. The downstairs rooms and reception were stylish with aesthetic books and currated objects which was nice but that’s where it ends.
We stayed for two nights and wished we’d chosen somewhere else. At £250 a night the hotel is vastly overpriced even in expensive Seattle. In fact they actually charged us $200 extra as a refundable reservation hold which we were not told about until we queried it on checkout.
Let me break down the issues:
Staff on the front desk could not be less bothered. They seemed to hate their jobs. No greeting, smile or even a pretence that you are welcome. No information given at all just a key card and you’re on your own. For a chain hotel at this price point I would expect far more.
When we found the room we were very disappointed. It was dark and dingy with a lovely view of an alley! The bed was pushed against the wall and as such made getting in and out difficult. The bed was very soft and clearly needed a new mattress and pillows were lumpy.
There was no information in the room about the local area or services or even how to work different things in the room.
The bathroom was another case of style over substance… clearly designed by someone who had never used a hotel bathroom before. The lights were on sensors and as such went off whilst you were in the shower! The shower looked simple enough but turned out to be impossible to get the correct temperature- freezing cold or boiling hot seemed the only choices. I did not enjoy shower jeopardy. There was no where on the sink to put anything- in fact no storage at all and the main mirror had no nearby light so it was fun putting on make up in the dark. And one robe for two people, why?!
Cleaning wasn’t carried out and information about this would have been useful at check in or in the room.
The noise was a real issue- the windows were so poorly glazed it was as if there was no glass at all. I understand city centres and old buildings (I’m English we have many of these) but this needs to be sorted. We heard all the noises outside from the homeless men arguing in the alley to the bin lorry’s at 6.30am…it did not make for a restful night.
A very minor point but indicative of the lack of customer focus and inconsistent approach…there were sweets in the common areas on the first night and we thought it was a nice touch…however these disappeared on the second night (we were told they were put away at 6pm but strangely were out at 9pm on night 1) then no sweets at all on the final day. Make a decision and stick to it.
The bar closing ridiculously early and no basic comforts like water available in the common areas was also frustrating.
I’ve travelled to many hotels around the world and always try to give a balanced honest view as I use trip advisor reviews to book hotels myself. But honestly if I was going to Seattle I would choose a different hotel.

Staff was very helpful and friendly. You stay at the Palihotel for its downtown location. Bring your earplugs to sleep in this busy area then walk to everything, or catch the train, to all the fun during the day.

Stayed here for one night with my daughter and found the front desk staff very kind and helpful. Enjoyed this unique hotel.

Had a wonderful stay this past weekend. There was a hiccup in my reservation, which was my own fault. However, Harry and Siobhan worked their magic and made everything effortless and completely made my entire weekend. Thank you both so much for your help and service.
