Everything about my stay was great until I was checking out. I went to my vehicle to load my luggage and my battery was dead. I approached Josh at the front desk and asked if there was someone that could give me a jump; mind you I carry jumper cables with me. He told me that he didn’t have his vehicle there which I understood, but when I asked if he could reach out to any of the staff or maintenance he refused and told me to go find one of the staff members. He was rude and not very helpful at all to assisting a guest that could be a repeat guest.
I forgot to ask her name but the lady with the blonde hair that was attending the breakfast area on Sunday, August 24 was extremely friendly, accommodating and went out of her way to assist me.

We usually avoid HI Express, but this Sumpter hotel was in a great location surrounded by lots of restaurants. This was the cleanest hotel, from the lobby to our room to the breakfast area. Our larger room with sofa was spotless, had 2 refrigerators and the beds were very comfortable. Add to this the buffet breakfast was fantastic, pancakes, 2 kinds of omelettes, sausages, grits, biscuits with gravy, fruit and so much more. The young lady cleaned tables as soon as a customer left the area....no cereal or food left spilled. We will definitely be going back to this hotel. I hope they keep up the good work.

Awesome stay! Everyone was very helpful. The lady doing breakfast fixed the pancake machine and made sure I got some pancakes which was very nice of her!

An option on Expedia was given to us to pay when arrived on site. It appears that that somehow caused Holiday Inn to not have a confirmation of stay upon arrival. So, after 8.5 hours of straight highway driving, they had to kindly ask us to drive again across the street to stay at Candlewood Suites, their reported sister hotel, and not stay at the Holiday Inn for the night. There, we were assigned a room with visible mold in the ceiling of the shower. Staff was very accommodating in seeking a new room. The new room was a little better, but the experience was overall not wishful. We frankly do not wish to repeat it with Holiday Inn.
