A fairytale hotel like in the good old days

The hotel is a bit old, but is lovingly kept in good shape. It’s like a journey through time, because as soon as you enter the hotel (preferably via the historic cable car), it’s like you’ve landed in a magnificent spa hotel 100 years ago. And you can hardly find such attentive service today! However, I find the short axe levied in Zubrowka almost outrageously high. I can definitely recommend a stay at the Grand Budapest.

Visiting the Grand Budapest Hotel

Incredible, a wonderful experience. Loved the hot tubes. Only one bad thing, to much noises of old woman shouting in other rooms.

Ageing

You soon realize that the hotel must have been glamorous once. However, the current owner does not seem interested in investing in the hotel. Which is a shame. The room was too cold for the season and otherwise the Service was rather mediocre. The clientele is rather old and well-heeled and seems to be looking for young lovers. No thanks.

Characterful stay

Absolutely loved the minimalist decor throughout the lobby, I did find, however, that the painting of a young boy with an apple at the reception desk was a bit out of place.
Hotel smelt heavily of L'air de panache throughout. This was a plus as I forgot to pack mine.
The thermal baths were delightful.

Extremely disappointed

Was really looking forward to my stay, but upon my arrival, discovered that the hotel was closed indefinitely due to a military unit using it as a makeshift garrison. I understand that these things can't exactly be planned for, but an email or phone call would have been nice. I was detained for 6 hours until they got my papers in order. It was a complete headache.
