The best holiday we had so far as a family! Absolutely amazing in all aspects
Loooved Ella Rocrita! Absolutely loved it..
We stayed for six nights with our two children, aged 12 and 8, and were genuinely impressed by the whole experience.
The rooms were spotlessly clean, very spacious, ergonomically organised and exceptionally rich in amenities. The room service team were among the kindest I have ever met, and everything they did was handled so smoothly and with such care.
We also loved the pools. They were always clean and very well organised, with sunbeds, towels and drinks readily available.
What impressed me most, however, was the people. I actually found myself collecting names during our stay because I wanted to thank specific members of staff who, for me, represented the quality and kindness of the entire team at every level:
-Geoffrey and Nikoleta from the Italian restaurant.
-Spiros and Mike from the bar, for their amazing service, constant smiles and great patience in looking after everyone so well.
-Katerina and Marina from the Fusion restaurant.
-Joanne and Joy at the buffet, and so many more people whose names, unfortunately, I did not manage to note.
-A very special thank you also to Manos, Giorgos, Leidi, Arbi, Markela, Garyfalia, Dimitris and Fragoulis—and to the whole team of lifeguards—for being so helpful, watching out for everyone and genuinely keeping us all safe and sound.

t is also worth noting that children of all ages never seemed to get bored. There were daily kids’ clubs, cinema nights, kids’ discos and entertainment throughout the day. Our children thoroughly enjoyed themselves, which naturally meant that we could relax and enjoy our holiday too!
Another important point: this is genuinely the best buffet I have ever seen and tasted. Everything was fresh, and dishes such as the beef carpaccio and salmon were exceptional. And the desserts—oh my God! Huge congratulations to the pastry chef, who is truly a magician. What can I mention first—the cheesecake, the banoffee? My personal favourites were the mojito dessert and the galaktobourekakia. It is honestly a shame that I cannot mention more without turning this review into a novel!
All the restaurants were truly excellent, although the Fusion and Italian restaurants were my personal favourites. Not to forget the quality of drinks, cocktails and alcoholic servings. Truly top..
Mr Stavros from management, Mr Gogos, the Chef and Mr Giannis, the pastry chef.- Really well done to you and your teams.. I am speechless.

Swimwear ruined, holiday ruined, not a 5 star hotel!
So disappointed in this hotel.
On our first day we used the main pool, after only an hour or so in the pool, our daughters swim wear turned yellow as did mine on the inner liner and I was hardly in there.
We then changed swim wear and pool location to the lower pool. Again, yellowed swim wear. We tried using our swim up pool and this also caused our swim wear to be ruined.
We reported this to guest relations and was told it was only us this had happened to and it was our sunscreen. We know this is a lie as we saw the pool staff fishing yellow scum off the top of the pool each day and had spoke to other guests with ruined clothes.
They offered to launder the swim wear free of charge, but we still had almost a week left, so it would happen again.
After multiple complaints and no returned calls from management, we eventually got an email from the General Manager offering to compensate us after we provided images of the damage and copies of the prices of all our items. So at least we weren't financially out of pocket.
However during the last few days, I developed a skin rash around the area of my swim suit, my son developed an ear infection which required antibiotics and my daughter got a water infection which took 3 lots of antibiotics to clear. These 3 things cant be a coincidence seeing as we were all in the pools together.
We booked a swim up one bed suite, which is the second most expensive option. There is no option to book sea view, so we asked a year in advance to be allocated one, to he told they're on an availability basis. After asking multiple more times and being told we will make a note of your request, we were put in a room looking at the car park, not what you expect after paying over £4000 for accommodation alone.
The food here is average at best and very repetitive. The first 2 days or so we're ok, then it become very boring. We ate out at the Italian, Mediterranean and also Fusion a la carte restaurants, and none of these were any good either (starters in the fusion were very good though).
In the Mediterranean restaurant our son ordered "crispy battered fish with French fries and tartar sauce" but what turned up was breaded poor quality, cheap fish fingers, potato smiley faces and tomato sauce. Absolute joke.
The kids entertainment is practically none existent. There is something on at night, but its terrible and a complete token effort.
There is also a ninja pool which was almost completely unsed by any guests during our stay, basically a waste of time. An actual kids water park area with slides would have been infinitely more useful.
Also seeing as this place delayed opening last year, which they cancelled on us at 6 weeks notice, its new this year and is already showing signs of tiredness. Especially the sunloungers which are getting filthy.
HOWEVER
Good points to mention.....
The staff they have brought in from the Philippines are absolutely wonderful, really friendly, very helpful and are clearly trying their best.
This goes for the restaurant staff, bar staff and cleaning staff.
The hotel as a whole, looks really beautiful and looks amazing on your holiday photos. It's been very well designed and decorated.
The decor of our swim up suite was really tasteful and very spacious and having our own pool with our own loungers was great to get away from the busy main pool.
Unfortunately theres not many more plus points. We only agreed to try this hotel again after last year, because they helped us switch to Helea Resort in Rhodes which is one of Ella's sister hotels and we had a fantastic time there. Beautiful hotel, great food, great service. So we assumed given this was a brand new hotel by the same company, it would be even better. How wrong we were. Unfortunately, we wont be trying any other Ella Resort hotels in future after the experience at Rocrita.

A Perfect Place to Relax, Recharge and Enjoy Crete
An incredibly cozy and relaxing place that you simply don’t want to leave!
The daily yoga classes are amazing, and yoga on SUP boards is an unforgettable way to start the day, surrounded by beautiful sea views.
The rooms are very comfortable, but the food deserves a special mention — absolutely delicious, fresh and incredibly diverse. With four à la carte restaurants, every dinner feels like a new culinary experience. There is also free paddle and tennis, which is a great bonus for those who enjoy being active.
The sea here is like a cozy little lagoon with crystal-clear water and breathtaking views. The whole staff is so friendly, polite and always ready to do their best to make your stay unforgettable.

A chilled and relaxing experience
We had a wonderful experience at Ella Rocreta in Crete, the rooms were beautiful clean and comfortable. The staff were always friendly and helpful. We loved the food, was always freshly prepared with lots of options and various spaces to eat around the resort we visited the street hub several times which offered a great variety of lunch time meals snacks.
I really enjoyed the yoga sessions on the beach and loved visiting the spa the team were all amazing!

Not even close to 5 star
This resort has immense potential thanks to its views and fantastic beach, but the overwhelming number of daily issues ruined our trip. We certainly wouldn't return and I’d advise anyone expecting a 5 star resort to avoid.
The service across the entire property is exceptionally slow, at times rude, and poorly managed—culminating in staff accidentally serving our child an alcoholic drink 2 nights running. Basic room amenities were a struggle; we had to chase staff twice just to get replacement bath towels, waiting over an hour with two impatient kids and on one night were told the laundry was behind so we wouldn’t be getting towels until later at some point (it was 5pm). After dark, the resort becomes a major safety hazard due to unlit walkways and steep stairs where lighting is either broken/switched off or non existent.
The air con dreadful, we had it set to 5 degrees, full power and still could barely feel it.
The "à la carte" offerings are a complete farce. Breakfast is just a stripped-down version of the main buffet, lunch is served out of paper pots as a basic snack bar (completely contradicting the menu advertised on the hotel app, this is no longer available), and dinner service is bizarre and rigid. Drinks orders were taken after food orders, arrived after starters were finished, and refills required managerial approval.
Another occasion, after requesting a red wine, we were told only 1 local wine was available (it’s an extensive wine list, I find it hard to believe only 1 type is available and all others had run out).Overall, the all-inclusive model feels designed to limit what you consume, making guests feel like a burden for even asking. They even lock the water fridges at night! Not what you expect from a ‘5 star resort’
The pool water turns all white swimwear yellow—a known issue that management fails to warn guests about. To top it off, the ambient music played throughout the day and night contained explicit language, which is completely inappropriate for a family resort.
Individually, some of these might be minor hiccups, but together every single day, it just doesn’t live up to what should be the standard it claims to offer.
And this was only half the issues….

Another occasion, after requesting a red wine, we were told only 1 local wine was available (it’s an extensive wine list, I find it hard to believe only 1 type is available and all others had run out).Overall, the all-inclusive model feels designed to limit what you consume, making guests feel like a burden for even asking. They even lock the water fridges at night! Not what you expect from a ‘5 star resort’
The pool water turns all white swimwear yellow—a known issue that management fails to warn guests about. To top it off, the ambient music played throughout the day and night contained explicit language, which is completely inappropriate for a family resort.
Individually, some of these might be minor hiccups, but together every single day, it just doesn’t live up to what should be the standard it claims to offer.
And this was only half the issues….
