Relaxing and amazing views , far from the crowds
We debated before coming here about whether to stay in the east side far away from the main tourist areas and attractions. Its about 45-60 minutes drive from the ferry port, but you get good value for the price and it’s much quieter and more relaxed.
What’s good:
- stunning ocean views and of majestic Mt Agung
- comfortable bed and room with a balcony
(Two comments - there are two rows of bungalows on the hill. The lower row is better with a full view. The upper row view is partially blocked by the first row. So ask for a room in the lower row .
The AC is great for the main bedroom first floor. If you need the additional double bed, it’s on the upper floor and the AC is not strong enough there. When you complain they give you a fan which helps but if you like strong AC, it’s not enough).
- the service is excellent. Suzanne at the desk is just amazing , so generous and goes out of her way to help - whether it’s for food, or ordering drivers/guides or motorbikes. She gives her heart and soul. When a driver she ordered didn’t come after 45 minutes, she drove into town and asked her brother to help! Gus the manager was kind as well. Most of the staff are sweet but mainly Gus and Suzanne speak good English.
- the food is not bad, especially the local style and the salads with cherry tomatoes are great too. Just a shame they don’t have real fruit juice and shakes which is pretty common in hotels of all levels here.
Less good:
- the place is not suitable for very old, young or people with balance issues. We 3 were between ages 25-60 so it was fine, but there are rough hewn stairs everywhere , many without banisters.
- the pool is small and I don’t think it’s chlorinated. I swam and enjoyed but…
- there is much left to ‘finish’. Lots of details. Everything is new but a bit rough. From missing paint and plaster here and there, and no stair rails and so on. The finish is what would make it fine , 3 plus even 4 star vs 3 star.
Still I would recommend - we enjoyed our stay here!

I do not understand the positive reviews for this place...even if Oman is struggling to satisfy you, the absence of towel that had to be claimed, the absence of water bottles that had to be paid for.., the bathroom water that smells like sewer.... The closed pool bar... some staff not motivated...the very average restaurant offering barely half its menu...no alcohol with excuses not very clear... In short I still wonder...

Very good
Excellent Small Hotel facing the Ocean. Some rooms have a wonderful view with a small terrace overlooking the ocean. The hotel is not very close to an area with restaurants or other venues, but there is a good hotel restaurant. Clean and comfortable rooms. Helpful staff.
