Very nice hotel close to the city center
Colonial style and beautifully restored it has a lot of charm. The inner courtyard serves the restaurant and access to the rooms.our room very beautiful lounge and refined decor. Bathrobes and pretty slippers and fruit cup overlooking a quiet alley. The buffet restaurant is very good and the dishes delicious. Impeccable welcome and service. We recommend.

Best colonial heritage hotel near tugu Jogja!
Excellent stay at The Phoenix Hotel Yogyakarta! This hotel is truly a hidden gem in Jogja, especially for those who appreciate history, colonial architecture, and authentic Indonesian hospitality.
From the moment I entered the lobby, I was amazed by the beautiful colonial-style building combined with elegant Javanese touches. The atmosphere feels luxurious, classic, and very unique compared to modern hotels. Every corner of the hotel is charming and full of character.
The room was clean, comfortable, and beautifully designed with a classic ambience. The bed was very comfortable, and the overall environment felt peaceful and relaxing. The swimming pool area in the middle of the hotel also added a special touch to the experience.
What made the stay even more memorable was the exceptional hospitality from the staff. Everyone was warm, attentive, and genuinely welcoming, making me feel valued throughout the stay. The breakfast selection was excellent with many delicious local and international options.
The location is also very strategic, close to Malioboro and many attractions in Yogyakarta. Overall, The Phoenix Hotel offers not only a comfortable stay but also a cultural and historical experience.
Highly recommended for anyone visiting Jogjakarta and looking for a memorable stay with colonial charm and outstanding service. Definitely would love to come back again!

5 stars but...
It is a hotel with a royal atmosphere. Looks like I'm a king who lives in a sultan's palace. There was a little bit of information about the restaurant that doesn’t match: the restaurant team told me that the iftar was open until 20:00, moreover the receptionist told me 21:00. The pool too, the spa team told me that it was open until 8pm, but the receptionist told me until 9pm. It’s a shame. After all, I wanted to appreciate the bellboy Fafa and the receptionist devi who welcomed me. Thanks also for upgrading my room, it is a nice surprise

The common areas are beautifully decorated and in good contidition. My room however was not. There was a lot of wear and tear in the furniture and the bathroom was dirty. Shower had not been cleaned for long. Breakfast was ok.

Disappointing...
I booked here to discover Dutch history. Sadly this hotel is a faint whiff of its previous days, with the inner historic lobby barely the only thing remaining about its colonial past. Standard rooms are incredibly small, so well worth upgrading to a larger pool side rooms. While the front desk staff is admirably cheerful, their efficiency is another thing. I asked to speak to a deputy manager several times and never did he/she reply to me over several days.. As an Accor silver member I was offered neither early check in nor late check out. (Indeed I had to wait about an hour to check in AFTER 2 pm.) The buffet dinner looks great but tasteless. Breakfast queue over the self-serve espersso machine is long and the machine often out for repairs. In a country renowned for its coffee a fully fledged barista is well warranted -- and an upgraded experience for a hotel parading itself as "Handwritten Collection." I stayed here twice, but never again. As for the Majaprahit in Surabaya, now that's an historic gem well worth staying at ... and worth its nomenclature as an historic hotel. This is not!
