The Matahari Inn in Kuta Lombok was the absolute highlight of my Indonesia trip! The location is perfect – in the middle of Kuta, you are in a few minutes to cool bars, restaurants, supermarkets and the beach. Nevertheless, it remains wonderfully quiet in the complex, which is really impressive.
The facility itself is a dream: very spacious, super well maintained, clean, and there are always staff to help with questions. The pool looked very welcoming, even if I didn't use it myself. I was particularly enthusiastic about the team – honestly warm, helpful and attentive, but never intrusive. An unforgettable moment was a dinner together with Indian and Indonesian specialties, which was simply beautiful.
A little bonus: There are kittens running around the grounds with their mother, all well-groomed and cute – that made my heart beat faster! Breakfast was also great: Eggs, pancakes, toast, fresh juice, great coffee. For variety there are numerous cafés nearby. I would recommend this place anytime – for me definitely a place I will return to.

Horrible Place

The whole place is a complete misrepresentation. The rooms are less than basic. Bathroom had damp patches, and the fittings are all ancient. There were holes in the doors, and the bed was very uncomfortable. The room itself was tiny with no space for storage etc. The pool area has no shade, other than a couple of raised pergolas, too high for us oldies to climb up. With torn cushions. When asked about sun brolleys, some staff said they would find some, we were told later by the manager they didn't have any. It's not really a pool, more of a plunge pool. It claims to have a restaurant but doesn't. Poorest breakfast we were offered in the whole of Indonesia. If you mention any faults or complain. The standard response is "no refunds". This is upheld by the fact that you are asked to sign a waiver before you see the room.(Be warned). We booked for a week but left after two days.

Odiferous stay in Kuta Lombok

Dated hotel in Kuta Lombok. We booked for four nights through Booking.com. Decent reviews and not cheap. Two families of four. We stayed one night. Leaking toilets and smell of urine. Still fighting to get our money back. Stay away. There are far better places for half the price.

Lush garden

We enjoyed our stay
in this hotel. Location in
right downtown, kindness and
reception of staff. Room
simple and very clean, bordered by a
beautiful garden, with swimming pool, which invites to relax! Good breakfast,
and offers hot drinks to all
time of day! Only the entrance
main is a little lacking with its
large earthen parking lot with the appearance of
wasteland.
