Very good stay of 5 nights in Rantepao!
Very nice house with nice views from all floors. Beautiful terraces with tables and chairs allow you to have meals and admire the view while resting.
We had food delivered without difficulty, as we did not want to move (by choice).
Good breakfast (the pancakes were very appreciated by the children!)
The laundry is efficient, and a refrigerator is available if needed.
Our room was large enough (we were 2 adults and 2 children) with all the necessary comfort to sleep, and clean.
Yuli (who speaks extremely good French) and her family are available to help us, welcoming and very kind.
We had food delivered without difficulty, as we did not want to move (by choice).

Good family stay in Remtepao
We stayed at the hotel as a family in August 2024. The accommodations are very decent with hot water available all day for a shower. The beds are good. The location is good in Rentepao. The owner is extremely knowledgeable about the Toraja country, very good source of advice, and speaks French very well. The one thing to note, which did not surprise us completely because mentioned in other reviews, is the noise of the city itself - however, it was something we had never experienced quite to that level before. Roosters, dogs, the mosque at 4/4:30 am, the church at 5 am. Bring earplugs!

Disappointment with enormous noise pollution
It is difficult to give a unanimous review for this accommodation. Advantages are the central location, appearance of the building and the view over the city. The owner and family are helpful and friendly.
The information about the rooms on Booking.com is very misleading. These are not 40 and 60 m2 as indicated. The superior room is barely 14 m2. The huge bed takes up half the room and you can only get in from one side. To be honest, we did get an upgrade. There is no air conditioning or fan in the rooms. It does get uncomfortably warm in the rooms.
Breakfast is from eight o'clock, which is not convenient if you want to take a tour.
What really makes the accommodation unacceptable is the enormous noise in the middle of the night. Of course, Toraja Lodge cannot do much about this. We stayed there for three nights and slept little. Now we are used to a lot during our many trips, but this really hit everything. Constantly barking dogs, crowing roosters, loud youth, but especially loud music in front of the door every morning around 5:30 am. Then I won't mention the Imam for the usual morning prayer, which we are used to. Because of the heat you want to keep the windows open given the lack of a fan, but the noise is unbearable despite earplugs.
In short, not recommended.

New, functional, well equipped, with good service

Noise : roosters, dogs and multiple morning prayer calls pass through as if the walls and windows did not exist thus interrupt and shorten every night. And inside the building, the walls disturbingly reverberate every word or sound.
Squeaky yet comfortable beds. As for bed sheets, only a mattress cover and a fleece blanket are provided. Bring your own extra linen (travelsheets ?) if needed.
Prices for extras : rental scooters were offered for twice the price found in town with the directions of the government tourist information center. Private car transfers by Oki to neighboring cities like Tentena, Sengkang or Makassar are a rip-off 1M IDR for 4 hours. We did not order any dinner but fear the prices would have been high.
Juli, a French speaking guide, is hanging around, trying to sell its services. He may be good but did not inspire friendliness nor trust to us. Note : he is the one who negotiates the prices for his son Oki.
Location : a bit out of the heart of the city, which is no big issue, since Rantepao itself is of limited interest and you will probably need some way to drive around to explore the Toraja area.
Last, just for the fun : western style breakfast is provided by default, including French fries ! Yes, this is a local idea that such treat will satisfy foreigners. Yet, we did not ask to change after a number of days of Indonesian breakfasts (omelette and bread were plenty), which they would surely do, as they are very willing to please the visitors.

Modern building with high standard rooms : spacious, clean, well equipped, with plenty of complimentary bottled water, a boiler, towels, closet and hangers, several plugs...
Only high rise building (4 levels) in the area, with 360° views easily enjoyable from its terraces.
Toto washlet is a real treat in Indonesia !
Hot shower available 24 hours, too !
The vast common area shared for 2 rooms with large windows and an access to outdoor terraces is great : it is used as a private breakfast area and can be used to have dinner (ordered there or your own, from street vendors for instance)
Advice :
Go to the Government tourist information office to organize your visits.
Avoid the restaurants in town praised by TripAdvisor. Lots of better options are available in the adjacent streets.
