The most I have been relaxed in years. Rooms are delightful, the grounds are beautiful. If an excursion is what you want, it is set up with reputable reliable people. Walking distant from anything you may need. When we did not make it back around the time they thought we would (too much to see), they came searching for us. Truly exceptional. When they found out we wanted to get married on the beach. The set up was beautiful is an understatement. Just wow.

Return travelers; would do it again!

Lovely staff. Nice folks, engaging, accommodating and professional. Our 2nd year in a row, and we are very happy. We have stayed at many other places over the past decades, so we are calibrated with our expectations. Would recommend to others! The property was safe, clean, well-run and managed. Every meal at the restaurant was fantastic. The property survived the hurricane quite well, with plenty of shade on the beach. The music (if you can call it that) from The Jungle night club was loud one night and ran late. Other than that our stay was quiet and peaceful. Great location on the beach to walk to bars with good music and fun!

Whistling Bird is lovely

This is a lovely tropical oasis. The grounds are stunning and peaceful and the rooms are clean and comfy. Staff is super nice and helpful and the food at the cafe is great. Old school Negril at its best

Amazing place to stay

Felt very safe and the resort had a cozy family vibe. Also super clean. All the staff is amazing and they felt like family by the time I left! Amazing food and drinks too. Beach was wonderful and clean and had plenty of Places to sit. There were also paddle boards and plenty of other activities!

Wonderfully rustic and right by the beach

Loved this place. We stayed in the Woodpecker cabin. No AC, no TV; just two wonderfully comfortable beds, a fridge and enough fans to keep us cool day & night. There were a number of other more upscale options available, but we fell in love with the Woodpecker. And one more thing:
The sweetest little cat named Papaya, adopted us soon after we arrived and slept at the end of my son't bed every night. Don't tell Bavra, but I did spoil Papaya a little bit with milk and sardines. Just to be clear, I only started spoiling her after she adopted us, so that's not why she adopted us.
The place felt so safe and secure we left our door open day-and-night. There was a safe in the room for us to store valuables and there was always at least one person on the property doing security.
We found the food at the restaurant expensive, but one day they had a barbecue by the beach with sliders, kababs, chicken and fish. It was just great. Lots of good music and lots of fun. I just wish it had happened more often during our nine-day stay.
They've done some obvious upgrades and added new cabins recently. My hope is that they don't do anything to our Woodpecker. I love its rustic nature. By "our" Woodpecker, I mean we will definitely be going back and that's where we want to stay.
The only thing on my wish list is to have access to a kitchn. There is a fridge in every room so it would be nice to have a place to cook somewhere on the premises.
The only downside, and this applies to the whole beach, is the nightclubs nearby that blare really crappy music well into the wee hours of the morning. The worst offender is the Jungle across the road. I don't know why the hotel owners nearby don't get together and pressure them to tone it down. It is really inconsiderate and ruins it for all of us.
I really want to give a shoutout to Bavra and all the staff. We were treated like family and made to feel so welcome. I can hardly wait to see them all same time next year.

Hello from the staff at Whistling Bird, and thank you for your review! Papaya says hi! She is one of the spectacular team here at WB, and like the Woodpecker cottage, helps make everyone feel at home and well comfortable.
You observations are very fair, including the loud music—weekly events—that are part of the culture of Jamaica and I know you will be shocked to know that the owner of Whistling Bird, Jim Boydston, used to own the property across the street and sold it to a group that built a bank there. No one ever would expect the bank to go insolvent, the property was sold to the family that started the jungle in the bank building, and it has been problematic ever since.
Aside from that, I am so pleased to hear you had a great time on we look forward to your return! As part of the ongoing improvements to the property, directly behind Woodpecker is an outdoor kitchen for guests use, that will be completed and available by your return. We suffered some damage from the hurricane this past July, so a few of these projects experienced a bit of a delay.
