Very good hotel with an exceptional view

Hotel beautifully situated on the heights with an extraordinary view of the sea. The sunsets are unforgettable. Large room, comfortable bedding, dated bathroom, beautiful outdoor pool, good quality of service, decent breakfast but nothing more, good restaurant but expensive. We just regret that no commercial gesture was made even though we paid for 2 nights (breakfast included) when we were unable to arrive on the first day. The hotel needs a refresh to be perfect.

Mixed bag!

Our stay was a bit of a mixed bag. We have stayed at the hotel for many years now but that said our last visit was 18 months ago and never during the summer.
It felt like there had been a cost reduction exercise since our last visit - little things that actually do make a difference. There was not one fresh flower in the hotel - there used to be flowers in the restaurant, bedrooms (a single rose bud in the bathroom), a large display in the reception hall (now replaced with a fern). No candles on the tables at dinner, a shortage of staff etc.
On the whole service was not polished nor particularly friendly, especially at breakfast. The only notable exception was Michael - the concierge.
We dined in the hotel on the first night. Gone are the tasting menu and the daily changing set menu. Instead there is an à la carte with daily specials. The food was good but I’m not sure it warranted 4 AA rosettes.
Breakfast was poor. Greasy undercooked bacon and sausages. Porridge where the oats had not been soaked overnight meaning that they were not fully cooked. I had porridge each day and only once was it cooked properly.
The rooms need a refresh. The soft furnishings are looking very tired. The towels are poor - the thinnest towels I have seen in a hotel.
I have a soft spot for The Atlantic and will continue to stay there because of its stunning location but only out of season. Out of season the tariff is such that you do not question the standard of the offering less as much. At peak season it is obviously more expensive which then shines a spotlight on the quality of the offering.

WONDERFUL HOTEL

We have just returned from a 4 night break at this wonderful hotel. The location is fantastic with views from the garden to the sea. It has a lovely peaceful atmosphere. Our room was perfect for us. Extremely clean and had everything we needed for our stay. It was also very quiet. Service from the staff was excellent. The staff are fantastic and help to make your stay special. The food is delicious. Everything we ordered was well presented and very enjoyable. There is plenty of choice for breakfast with a cold buffet of cereal, meats, cheese, etc and a choice of a cooked breakfast too. We absolutely loved this hotel and we are planning to visit again for longer next year. Thank you to all the staff. Ann + Derek xx

Sadly we will not return

The best thing about this hotel is the wonderful staff team who are extremely friendly and helpful. This was our first trip to Jersey and O chose the Atlantic due to its status as being part of small luxury hotels of the world. The hotel itself is okay and has beautiful views. However, I came away feeling somewhat disappointed with the experience. We had a terrace room which was okay but not by any means luxury. I would have expected a coffee machine and not just a kettle. We arrived early and our room wasn’t ready, sadly we were not offered a welcome drink. The biggest disappointment for me was that we ordered drinks by the pool and were charged 10 percent service charge. We have never had this in any hotel. Just prior to checkout I ordered a glass of wine and a glass of coke. £27!!! We left feeling quite ripped off and very dissappinted.

Super staff

We only had one night at this hotel. The food was amazing ( beetroot gazpacho and the vegan chocolate dessert, I could eat every day) the lycee and elderflower martini was delish. The staff very super. The hotel went above and beyond after I left my jacket behind Nathan came to the rescue and got it to the airport and made sure it got through security as I was not allowed to go out of the area. I really appreciated how the hotel made sure I received it. The room was lovely and beds comfy.
