Amazing hostel. Staff are very down to earth and super helpful with everything. Had an amazing time, you should absolutely stay here.

Great shelter for community of travelling people
Great hostel. There are many travelers from all over the world, its interesting to communicate. Nice friendly staff. Changes are being made all the time, for example, another new shower was installed. Its clear that they are really trying to improve the hostel and make it even more comfortable for your stay. Good value for money. A place for people who are open to the world, and for those who are looking for solitude and isolation, a hotel with private rooms for 1-2 people is more suitable, of course, because this hostel is more about communication. Its cozy, interesting and comfortable here. Highly recommend)

Incredibly Social Hostel but Terribly Mismanaged
I have to be honest here. The hostel itself is okay, but it seems to be terribly mismanaged. The current staff really brings this place down. I can usually ignore a hostel's shortcomings and faults if the staff is incredible--- sadly that's not the case here. At their best, it seems that they couldn't be bothered, that you owe them a favor for even talking to you. At their worst, they simply don't know what's going on. Many times, they failed to keep track of who's checked in. this happened to multiple guests. If you have questions about Almaty? Forget it. Either they don't know the answer or they'll give the wrong one. You're better off with Google.
The cleaning lady who's in the hostel every morning is nice though. But they need to hire additional staff to keep things in order once she leaves. By early afternoon, toilets get filthy and they run out of toilet paper. There's hot water, but getting a hot shower seems to be a game of chance at this hostel. There are more toilets and showers now though, so the problem of insufficient toilets and showers for everyone seems to have been addressed.
The location though is pretty good. it's in a quiet neighborhood, yet public transport is still accessible so it's easy to explore the city from here. Several attractions are within walking distance, there's a convenience store right beside the hostel and there are lots of places to eat nearby.
The best thing about this hostel is the atmosphere. For some reason, most backpackers in Almaty stay here so it seems to be the only social hostel in Almaty. I met a lot of awesome people here. I would only recommend staying here if meeting people is your priority and you're willing to ignore everything else.

Super hostel
Really good hostel with good localization, clean accommodation, good Mattresses, kitchen on the basement so you can use every time and the staff is very helpful!
There is some renovation in progress when I leave so I suppose it’ll be better!

Rude horrible staff
By far the worst hostel I've ever Apart of. First day there no introductions when I arrived completely ignored. on the second day my clothes were thrown across the room on different beds and into other people's bags, I have missing clothes now because of this. The female worker was very demanding not understanding I was colour blind with a dumb colour system for their bed sheets. She ganged up on me with the male volunteer when I defended myself, every time I tried to rest she would moan at me. I just woke up haven't even said a word to anyone, she decides to kick me out on the street so I had to sleep rough for a night until my funds came through to go somewhere else. I was in floods of tears because of her bullying actions. I didn't even feel comfortable being in the same room with her so I would avoid being at the hostel for too long. Nobody considered how I was feeling. I turned down extra time in Kyrgyzstan to be there, I wish I had stayed there now.
