Worst Hotel Experience in 40 years
We stayed at this hotel in Almaty for 5 nights (3 rooms booked through Booking.com) as an Indian family visiting from the UAE. Unfortunately, it was one of the worst hotel experiences we have ever had.
From check-in, we faced ongoing issues with non-functional air conditioning/heating. Despite being moved three times, the problem was never properly resolved.
More concerning was the behavior of the staff. They were frequently rude, aggressive, and intimidating, shouted at us and our children, entered our rooms without permission, and refused repeated requests to speak with the manager.
Service standards deteriorated throughout our stay. Housekeeping stopped cleaning our rooms, bedsheets and towels were not replaced, and the breakfast quality became poor, with stale food being served.
When we requested a refund so we could move to another hotel, the hotel refused. At checkout, staff withheld our luggage and demanded a USD 200 "fine" for alleged damage to bedsheets and pillows. When we asked for proof, none was provided. The police were called, and after hearing both sides, the hotel director apologized and allowed us to leave.
Our children were frightened by the aggressive behavior throughout the stay, turning what should have been a family holiday into a very stressful experience. We also experienced racist remarks in the local language, some of which were translated and documented.
Based on our experience, we cannot recommend this hotel and would advise families and international travelers to consider other options.

A HORRIBLE and PATHETIC experience
We stayed at this hotel in Almaty from 25th May for 5 nights, booking 3 rooms through Booking.com. We are an Indian family visiting from the UAE, and unfortunately this turned out to be one of the worst hotel experiences we have ever had
From the moment we checked in, the problems started. The first set of rooms had non-functional AC/heating systems. After repeated complaints, the hotel shifted us multiple times — in total, three room changes — yet the same issue continued.
What was even more shocking was the behavior of the staff. Instead of resolving concerns professionally, they became rude, aggressive, and intimidating. They shouted at us and even scolded our children.
On multiple occasions, staff forcefully entered our rooms, physically pushed family members including children, and behaved in a threatening manner for absolutely no valid reason.
The pillows provided were extremely hard and uncomfortable, and for two nights we had to sleep using folded towels. When we politely requested softer pillows (which they clearly had available), the staff reacted aggressively and started verbally abusing us.
We repeatedly requested to speak with the manager, but they never allowed us to do so.
The situation only worsened over the stay:
Housekeeping and toilet cleaning were deliberately stopped
Bedsheets and towels were not replaced
Breakfast quality became unacceptable, with stale food being served
Staff continuously shouted at us in the local language and threatened us whenever we tried to complain
Since the environment became unsafe for our family and children, we requested a refund so we could move to another hotel. The hotel refused.
The most horrifying incident happened during checkout. The staff hid our luggage and demanded a $200 “fine,” falsely accusing us of damaging bedsheets and pillows. When we asked for proof, they showed unclear CCTV footage that did not establish anything. After we challenged this, they called the police.
Thankfully, when the police and the hotel director arrived, they heard our side, apologized to us, and finally allowed us to leave the hotel.
Our children were terrified throughout this stay and started crying every time the staff approached us aggressively. What should have been a family holiday became a traumatic experience.
We also experienced racist remarks in the local language, some of which were captured using Google Translate.
This hotel was extremely disrespectful, intimidating, and hostile towards us. Based on our experience, we strongly advise families — especially international tourists — to avoid staying here
