I have just left Almaty on my way back to London. I stayed at this hotel for four nights. My flight was rather early and I requested pick up at the airport. I did receive that. The driver was really nice and made an attempt to talk to me since the main languages there are Russian and Kazakh. The reception was there to greet me and offered me coffee and phoned an independent contractor to take me to the Big Lake Almaty. He was nice but he needs to communicate with the hotel in regards to his rates since what was listed was not what he charged in person. In terms of the hotel, it was clean, AC worked, the breakfast was definitely continental but I loved the rice cereal that was brought to me. We communicated by google translate if needed but half the time it wasn’t necessary. Oxanna was so sweet and we hugged when I left. Her daughter told me about the subway in Almaty which contains art and the history behind that art. I felt very comfortable there as a woman of color who speaks English. I would return there. I thank both Oxanna and Magarite for making feel at ease. I apologize for the misspelling of your names ladies. The room is quite spacious and the bathroom was nicer than the one I had in Wales.

Rude service people and receptionists, hotel for "dating" people
The hotel is located in most polluted area in Almaty on the crossing of two major traffic arteries. Streets there full of smoke from the numerous cars, and it is close to industrial zone of Almaty. Air conditioning did not work in the room, and because of the pollution and noise you cannot open windows. When someone came to repair AC on second or third day of stay, the room and bathroom were left dirty and dusty. And nobody from hotel people came to check on the room after repair. But AC still was not functioning after all. The receptionists and service people are very rude and unfriendly, especially one named Oksana. The bed sheets were dusty and changed only once and at the end of stay during 5 days of stay, they are also made of polyester, not cotton,and get very unpleasant after first night, especially considering how the weather was very warm. Mattress and pillow were hard like a brick. Dirty tea cups, washed without brush or sponge or soap. Shower was difficult to use, water would change from very hot to cold. Internet was slow and abrupt. It seems that it is norm to rent the rooms to dating people, suddenly late at night you would hear that someone slams the doors and then all "love" story. That happened 3 times very late at night. Other night someone would slam the door every 15-20 minutes for a around 2 hours. Stay away from this hotel.

One of the very good hotels in Almaty
I have stay in Toi-Dami hotel around 4 times and I like it.
Once I have stay with my wife and 2 years old daughter. Hotel personnel was helpful.
Cafeteria on 3rd level is especially great, foods are testy.
Hotel is located in the very nice part of the Almaty city.
I would like to return Toi-Dami Hotel as much as possible.
