Beautiful Design, Professionally Managed

The value is exceptional, however, this is unfortunately its downfall. There are tourists here indeed, and it is not the cheapest hostel in the city, however, the slight difference in price between this place and the cheapest hostels isn't enough to discourage undesirable guests. I stayed 5 nights and it was impossible to sleep or relax during the 45 degrees heatwave because of domestic guests in the mens dorm who are not what any tourist wants. Playing loud music, taking phone calls at 2am, urinating all over the toilet seats, and they even broke the air conditioning so we had no AC on the hottest days of the year. A really poor class of Kazakh men checking-in ruined it for me, however, even with this, I have to give almost 10/10 or 5 stars... almost. The staff are professional and nice. The place was kept impeccable, and the outside area is great (other than when the Kazak guests are smoking over your food when there are literally a dozen comfortable places to sit around the garden). The interior is way better than the photos. An absolute gem! I think they should put the price up ten or fifteen percent, however, to price-out non-tourist guys.

Very kind female owner/ hostess!!

We loved it here. Everywhere was spotlessly clean, felt very home like. The lady who runs it clearly takes pride here, and so she should!
Great facilities, modern decor, would definitely stay here again

Terrible service and aggressive host

I had a terrible experience at this hostel. My worst in the whole of Central Asia actually. The hostel itself is nice (although I have not even seen the rooms), the problem is the service, and especially the owner. Please look at other negative comments, and you will understand that it is a common theme. I won't go into details, but in short, I had to cancel my stay early afternoon due to airport transportation constraints. I was asked to pay the whole price (while cancellation on booking should be free anytime) and it escalated to calling the police and writing a deposition. The owner was happy to have me miss my taxi, my flight and block me in the country. I was speechless. Incredibly uncompromising and unhelpful. I would highly suggest you find another place to stay.

Lonely Planet were right - it is excellent

I stayed a couple of nights in April, a quiet time of year. Standing outside the gate, does not look promising - but open that gate and a delightful property appears. Albina was indeed helpful e.g. arranging an early morning taxi to the bus station. The large dogs were friendly, once they had taken an initial look at me. I had a delightful private room upstairs - separate toilet and shower rooms were shared with one (?) other room.
Easy to get to the centre and transport hubs - a few minutes walk from busy bus routes, or about 30-40 minutes walk. A very large supermarket was about 5 minutes walk over a railway bridge.

Beautiful hostel

Beautifully designed, very clean and cosy, with extreme attention to detail, one of the best hostels I've seen. The host is friendly and nice, she picked us up at the train station, so we didn't problems finding it, she is very helpful with information, and made sure we knew our way around the city and how to get where we needed to get. 5 stars!
