Basic but Adequate
Within easy walking distance from the bus station and restaurants, it’s in a good location.
The staff are friendly and helpful. Laundry is a tad on the expensive side at 15k per kilogram and they are tight with the weight. Lucky for me my laundry weighed exactly 1 kilogram. The receptionist studied the needle for quite some time and I assumed he was attempting to use ‘the force’ to make it go up but alas the force was not with him.
The room was basic but adequate. A swivelling ceiling fan kept me cool during the night. Bathroom facilities were adequate and I could get warm water from the shower after adjusting the tap handle to the correct position.

Rooms okay regarding price-value ratio, but beware of Tour Agency
But: the tour agency, Kou Vang travel company, which is attached to the reception area, is very unserious. We discussed with the agency owner the diverse option for tours. He tried to convince us, that all the options except the three jar sites are not worth to visit, which was astonishing for us. But we told him several times, that we will do tour number 2, which included the jar sites and the old city for the prize of 600000 kip. Our fault was, that we didn’t control the receipt. The next day, after having visited the jar sites, the driver headed back to Phonsavan. We told him that we had included the old city. Now we realized, that the receipt listed only the three jar sites. Being back we had an unpleasant discussion with the owner. He denied, that we wanted to see the old city, with the same arguments he himself used the day before, when he tried to convince us, that the old city is not worth to visit. In addition, he blamed us for not reading the receipt. For us this was cheating, especially as we paid the same prize for only part of the tour. 600000 Kip is definitely too much money for only part of a program.

Very Nice indeed
There can be a little bit of noise given it's right on the main road, and I was woken up by a rooster early in the morning. But the rooster is not in the control of the guest house and convenient location will always be accompanied with some noise - it's good that Phonsavan is rather slow and things do quieten down by 22:00.
All in all, I can't really ask for more from a guest-house - good location and amenities at a very reasonable price.

Cold as an Icebox
However, if you come during the winter months, this hotel is freezing. It is 1100 metres above sea level in Phonsavan and temperatures can drop to the low single digits overnight. The problem with this hotel is that it gets no sunlight at all, so the room stays cold as an icebox all day. It feels as cold in the room as it does out on the streets at night. Perhaps they could look at heaters.
