Hello,
I enjoyed an omelet this morning.
Mushrooms, cheese made by the chef.
Hamod, superb with a lot of flavor.
Soft in the center, nothing to say really.
Perfect.
Great welcome from Ali Matar and Rita, always smiling, full of humor and professionalism.

Perfect place to visit again

The Smallville Hotel, Beirut – A Stylish Stay with a Few Plot Twists
We stayed at The Smallville Hotel over the holidays, spanning both Christmas and New Year, and it made for a memorable, character filled escape in the heart of Beirut.
The location is spot on, and during the festive season the hotel truly shines. The Christmas decor was bold and avant garde, playful without being loud, and perfectly in tune with the hotel’s design forward identity. The New Year’s party was impressively executed, polished, lively, and genuinely fun, striking that rare balance between celebration and class.
What really sets Smallville apart, though, is its atmosphere. It feels homey in the best sense of the word, warm, welcoming, and relaxed rather than stiffly luxurious. The staff deserve real credit here. Their attitude was consistently friendly and professional, and they were especially wonderful with our two year old son. He fell in love with the daily infused water and promptly made it part of his routine, to the point where it became a small but meaningful highlight of his day. The team played along effortlessly, always playful and kind with him, which made us feel less like hotel guests and more like familiar faces.
Our suite felt fresh, clean, and thoughtfully designed, and the hotel overall is clearly very well maintained. Everything felt cared for, from the rooms to the common spaces, which quietly reinforces confidence in the experience.
The rooftop is another standout. Beautiful views, great energy, and a space that feels like a destination in its own right. One small suggestion would be to better separate areas meant for guests enjoying dinner or drinks from those hosting birthday parties or private celebrations. It is a fantastic venue, and a bit of zoning could preserve the ambiance for everyone.
On the downside, housekeeping was inconsistent. Some days were flawless, others felt oddly incomplete. Not alarming, but noticeable at this category.
The most frustrating aspect, however, was the strict no outside food policy. Beirut is a city built on food culture, and guests do not always want to rely exclusively on room service. In other five star hotels in Beirut, including international chains, food delivery is often welcomed or handled sensibly via a simple food safety waiver. This protects the hotel while respecting guest choice. A blanket ban feels unnecessarily rigid for a city like Beirut.
Bottom line
The Smallville Hotel is stylish, well located, and full of personality, with excellent upkeep and a team that genuinely knows how to make guests feel welcome, including the smallest ones. With more consistency in housekeeping, a more flexible approach to outside dining, and minor adjustments to rooftop zoning, it would comfortably move from very good to truly exceptional.

The place looked cozy and fun,
Service was great,
We ordered pizza and pasta,
Pizza came out first and it was delicious! It was the Diavola pizza.
Put them came the carbonara pasta. It was a disaster, the guanciale was raw, to keep in mind it’s pork and dangerous even if it’s cured meat, no sauce, just liquid pasta water that was translucent. I know they don’t put cream in carbonara but the sauce itself is creamy from the egg yolks and pecorino cheese which were both not there. We asked the waiter to ask the chef is something is wrong and they switched it, the guanciale was cooked better but still chewy, the sauce was creamier, I sense that they added more Parmesan cheese and a bit of cream cause it was bitter. And adding parsley won’t make a dish look good, it made the carbonara taste unauthentic. The chef had said he had 2 ways of making the carbonara, and there’s just one way to make it, please be careful of saying things like that as some guests might be chefs and experts themselves.
Truffle fries were great.
