Savoy Marrakech

Great hotel, staff, food, rooms. Place was spotless and as many staff as guests. Incredible breakfast selection. Great mall next door with all the little necessities you might forget as well as a supermarket, there’s an entrance to the mall from the hotel.
Some people giving out about building work going on but it’s all closed off from the pools etc and not an issue in my book, no noice of any consequence. Great hotel.

Terrible service! Avoid at all costs!

I stayed at the Savoy Le Grand Hotel in Marrakech, including in their jacuzzi suite, and the experience was unacceptable for a hotel of this category.
First, even basic room setup was poorly thought out. The coffee/tea table was arranged in a way that made it almost impossible to use the kettle without moving it to the very edge of the table and then moving the table itself closer to the wall socket. There was also only one electrical socket, meaning you could not use the kettle and espresso machine at the same time.
There were also basic housekeeping failures. In one bedroom of the jacuzzi suite, there were no large towels at all. For three guests, only two large towels were provided.
Communication with the hotel was extremely frustrating. Calling reception was often useless, as nobody answered on either of the two lines. This was around 4 PM, so not even during Iftar time. Housekeeping also did not answer. In some cases, my call to housekeeping seemed to be automatically forwarded to reception, but reception did not know this and simply forwarded me back to housekeeping, where nobody picked up. This went back and forth. On one occasion, I was forwarded four times and had to repeat the same question each time before someone finally answered.
The worst issue was cleanliness. I arrived one day earlier than planned and booked a cheaper room before moving to my suite the next day. In the morning, reception initially refused to let me move to the suite, saying it was still occupied. Later, when I finally entered suite 1419, I found it dirty. The jacuzzi had hair in it, and a hand towel had yellow stains. I immediately called reception and asked to speak with the general manager or housekeeping manager. Instead, I was forwarded to housekeeping services. After I explained the situation, the housekeeping manager and someone from guest relations came to the room. I showed them the dirty bathtub and stained towel.
After I asked to change suites, they showed me two other suites, one on the same floor and one on the 5th floor. Both were also dirty, and I found hair in both of them in front of the housekeeping manager and guest relations staff. They were visibly embarrassed. They then showed me another suite on the 1st floor, where I found what looked like a 30 cm long hair in one of the sinks. That means I personally saw four suites, and all four were dirty.
This also made it clear that the suites had actually been available earlier, despite reception claiming otherwise. The issue was not availability, but poor service and unwillingness to accommodate the guest properly.
I eventually chose suite 1507 on the 5th floor only because the view was slightly better, and I asked them to clean it again before I moved in. Even after this second cleaning, the hydromassage bathtub was still dirty. I still found hair, and when I started filling the bathtub with water, someone’s earplug came out. Later, after using the bathtub, there was something floating in the water that looked like bodily residue, possibly coming from the pipes. There were also more hairs, which appeared to come from the bathtub pipes rather than from me.
The bathtub itself was also poorly maintained. The silicone around the edges was damaged or missing across most of the bathtub, meaning water can easily go under the bathtub structure, where old dirty water may remain. This is extremely unhygienic, especially for a jacuzzi/hydromassage bathtub.
Overall, I should have left immediately and changed hotels. This hotel is not properly maintained, the service is poor, housekeeping standards are unacceptable, and the jacuzzi suites were disgusting. For a hotel presenting itself as a luxury property, this was a completely unacceptable experience.

Really nice overall, but Christ, some things really took it down to a 2 star.

1. Maintenance. They are absolutely useless when it comes to maintenance, we had maintenance up to our 2 rooms 7 times in 3 days. They are trying to build a new complex, but they cannot maintain their current complex! Our door kept breaking (front and balcony), fridge didn’t work, AC didn’t work, and we didn’t have towels, no consistency between rooms, cleaners barged in… not great in this field.
2. Outdoor pools. Yes, they have 2 more indoor pools and they are absolutely lovely, but the outdoor pools were absolutely bloody freezing! (It was February but still unusable in 29°C weather). They need to add some heating, as it was unusable during our stay.
3. Staff. Most of them were so lovely, but some were absolutely horrible. For example, when our door broke for the first time, a man come over like nothing happened laughing, all jollying about, how utterly ridiculous. Again, when it broke AGAIN, one of the party members lost their temper with the door as we were late for an external trip, they walked off and the maids burst out laughing, how absolutely unacceptable for staff members trying to give a ‘amazing service’.
4. Building work. They are trying to build a new complex and it’s SO loud and disruptive. It’s not really nice to listen to while trying to enjoy the sun with a few beers.
Overall, it was an amazing stay with lovely breakfasts, mostly good staff and good for kids. I absolutely loved Morocco and will come again, the hotel was really nice, but they may need to up their game for more sales.
2/5, thank you!

Wonderful stay

Sorry for the long review, but I wanted to be as informative as possible and share the information I would have liked to know before booking.
This was my 5th trip to Marrakesh and my first stay at Savoy Le Grand. I was quite nervous booking after reading some negative reviews, but overall I had a very pleasant experience.
From the moment we stepped out of the taxi, we were warmly welcomed by Salah (concierge) and the Moroccan tea man in reception. From check-in to check-out (4 days later), all staff were friendly, welcoming, and helpful. Everyone we encountered spoke Arabic, French, and English, which made communication very easy.
The foyer is beautiful, and the grounds are extremely well cared for—even more beautiful than expected. That said, there is ongoing construction and upgrades, which are not mentioned on the website. This is currently their quiet season, and the main construction is above the reception building, which is being extended upwards. Noise started daily around 9:15am, drilling around 9:38am, and finished around 6:30pm. Estimated completion is 1 May 2026. If you request a room near the second smaller pool, the noise is much less noticeable. The noise is louder and echoes more around the main pool due to the square layout.
The hotel has four pools: two outdoor and two indoor. One indoor pool is heated and includes jacuzzi jets. There is also an additional indoor jacuzzi at the spa, charged at MAD 250 per person for one hour.
There are three à la carte restaurants on site: Moroccan, International, and Italian. Directly outside the hotel are a supermarket, Paul, Chilli’s, and Papa John’s. Please note that outside food is not allowed inside the hotel. There is an ATM in reception and direct access to Menara Mall, which closes at 10pm. In the evening there’s live entertainment music in the bar and outside a light & water fountain display.
Special thanks to Nabil at reception, who did an excellent job checking us in. He listened carefully to my needs and arranged early check-in to a ground-floor room close to the restaurants, spa, and gym, with a garden and pool view. Soundproofing from the pool area was good, although hallway noise does travel. The grounds are beautiful, but the ground-floor rooms occasionally had a sewage smell, which I’ve also experienced at other Moroccan hotels.
We did experience a few issues with our first room (heating not working, leaking fridge, slow-draining sink). Without us needing to complain, Soukayna from guest relations came first thing the next morning and immediately arranged for us to move to a beautiful suite. This level of customer service, care, and attentiveness is exactly what you expect from a 5-star hotel.
The suite was stunning—very spacious, with a separate living area, two balconies, lots of storage, mini fridge, large sofa, king-size bed, two TVs, kettle, coffee machine, safe, bathrobes and slippers. The bathroom had two sinks (standard rooms have one), plenty of toiletries (no washcloths), a large shower with both handheld and waterfall options, and excellent water pressure. There wasn’t much space to hang items, and there is a bidet hose beside the toilet. Thank you to the head cleaning lady for the final touches and maintaining a high standard of cleanliness.
I’d like to thank all the staff for providing us with a wonderful stay. I love the Moroccan people—they are humble, kind, and always willing to help. Despite the construction, I achieved my goal of relaxation and a short break. This is now my new favourite hotel in Marrakesh, and I will definitely return and recommend it to friends and family.
