Almost perfect
Just back from 10 nights at the Medina Gardens, we stayed in the Junior Suite Jacuzzi Pool View room which was spacious and very comfortable.
The suite has a separate bedroom and lounge, a shower room and a terrace with table and chairs, Bali bed and a hot tub and fantastic views of the gardens and Koutoubia mosque.
We loved this room, the only thing that could improve it is some maintenance on the terrace. The paint on the Bali bed was flaking, the soft furnishings needed cleaning and the hot tub was worn.
The public rooms in the hotel are spotless and the lady who cleaned our room did a great job. For the money we paid I would have hoped soft drinks would be included in the room fridge. There was always plenty of bottled water.
The gardens here are wonderful with beautiful mature trees and plants, vegetables and herbs. There are sun beds dotted throughout the grounds and there were always free beds when we needed them. Sadly the beds by the pools were always taken early, some by 6.00am. The hotel really should do something about this as the polite notices asking people not to reserve do not work.
It’s good that there is a quiet pool if you just want to relax and the temperature of this pool was just right.
A nice touch was when staff came round in the afternoon sometimes with fruit skewers and ice lollies.
There was a large variety of food to choose from in the buffet restaurant. We like to eat late and by 8.30pm some items were finished and not replaced which could make it difficult to find something we liked.
There are a few bars in the hotel. We enjoyed the house wines at dinner and the rum, gin and other spirits were good, however we didn’t enjoy any of the cocktails.
The staff throughout the hotel from the cleaners to the bar, restaurant and entertainment people are lovely and work very hard.
We loved the entertainment in the evenings. The singer and bands were excellent, we would have liked them to play longer they were so good.
In summary this is a great hotel, we had a few minor issues but loved our stay here.

Great location and friendly staff
This is our 4th visit to this hotel. We like the cosy feel yet the proximity to the Medina. Overall everything is great, the staff are lovely and the rooms kept lovely and clean but the bathrooms in the reception area and behind the culinarium/pool could do with a refresh. Only one of the two cubicles in reception was open during our stay.
The last time we visited there was a large fridge by the pool that was always kept stocked with small bottles of cold water. This time, we had to queue at the bar to be served warmish water from a large bottle into a plastic glass. Like most people these days, we consume 2-3 litres of water each per day so that was a fair bit of queing! It was only with a day to go that they started to hand out the small bottles at the bar.
The piano bar area is fabulous and modern however unlike most Moroccan hotels that are open and welcoming, the reception area seating now is quite claustraphobic and the fret screens block out the light from the piano bar. This area could benefit from a re-think to match the rest of the hotel decor.
As we've been to the hotel a number of times we know our way around but found new guests weren't told about toilet locations, beach towels, the two bars etc and nobody was informed of the TUI Blue App (not the TUI holiday app) that would have helped quite considerably and which we use when we stay in other TUI blue hotels.
What's missing for me....... a mint tea station. We've had this in other Marrakech, Taghzout and Agadir hotels and it's lovely to have a fresh mint tea after meals or before bed.
We'll be returning for sure as despite the "little moans" above, it's still one of our faves with fave staff members.

TUI BLUE Medina Gardens, almost perfect.
We visited this hotel first time in 1995, as our honeymoon destination, just before the remodelling and we visited again recently. Both times were very good.
Let me state that, in my humble opinion, this is by far the best hotel in the Marrakesh Medina and equally the best for location if you intend exploring the historical sites and if you are brave (crazy) enough to explore the souks off Jemaa El Fna (Jammafna) Square. The hotel has everything you would expect from a hotel of this kind and it is done quite well. The remodelling works especially well. Larger restaurant, no more silly little night club and much more space, in door and out, to sit and have a drink.
However, during our first visit, we loved coming back to the peace and quiet of the gardens, lounging by the quiet pool and even dozing off to the sound of the birds. This is no longer possible due to noisy activities and music. There are some other things that do not make sense either and even cause concern.
Let me walk you through my concerns. Day one arrival, very slick, room clean and well presented, albeit not ready on arrival and we needed to wait several hours before we could go to our room, when all you really want to do is either take a shower and change or put your swimmers on and cool off in the pool. Day 2, TUI Rep introduction. In 2015, the reps spent time explaining life in Marrakesh, acceptable behaviour, places to visit etc etc. This time, the Rep seemed more focussed on the trips available to purchase from her with little explanation for the wider Marrakesh. With many historical sites, temples, mosques and gardens in easy walking distance of the hotel, this was disappointing.
Rest of the two weeks, we spent having a great time exploring the souks, eating in the restaurants around the square and visiting sites within walking distance. We even went outside the Medina and explored the French quarter which has great shops and Carrefour supermarkets for those items you forgot to pack and snacks and drinks, because..... There is NO ROOM SERVICE. There is no way of getting a light meal (pizza, chips etc) sent to your room at any time or at any location outside of normal restaurant times (one exception is the Culinarium which does run 1 hour longer than the main restaurant lunch time). They will not even give you a bottle of coke to take to your room. This is not what I would expect from an all inclusive hotel.
The hotel management seek to make this hotel all things to all people and when you do this you will alienate part of your demographic. Pool parties with pumping dance music until 11pm and beyond, in a hotel basically built around the pool, is not for everyone, especially like us, who's room was overlooking the pool and who like to go to bed early and get up early , which is how to get a good breakfast because beyond 07:30 all the scrambled eggs and bacon are gone and if you are a late riser, nothing available after 10am until 12:30 when lunch starts (beware, the pool bed pirates were seen claiming their sun beds as early as early as 0515, despite hotel policy forbidding this).
There also seemed to be a culture of "pay for service", where those prepared to drop the waiter a couple of hundred Dirhams will get preferential service over those who don't, even to the extent of being ignored altogether.
In summary, this is a great hotel for location and a good hotel for its price point. If you are aware of the shortcomings and are prepared for these then I am sure you will enjoy your stay here.

The property is located in a great area. Easy access for shopping, transportation, restaurants and wonderful attractions. However that is the best part of this property. The buffet food is nasty. The other restaurant on the property you had to make reservations that was nice and the food was good. One pool guy and one bar tender were kind all other staff requires retraining, especially the front desk team. I believe her name is Chimia (morning front desk clerk) She was unkind, unhelpful and not friendly barely wanting to assist with any questions. The manager on duty during my stay was only slightly more helpful, but only after I pressed certain issues regarding my room. When on vacation you should NOT have to deal with the hotel team being unhelpful, unkind and mean. The property requires fresh paint job, updating of rooms items and is infested with ants.
