The room is a bit small but clean and functioning. The location is near local bus terminal Komtar and shopping mall.

Stayed in 2 rooms. Overall, an exceptional value and experience for a modest hotel. Thoughts below.
Excellent:
-location is perfect. near food, bars and sites (within 15m walk), not close enough to a mosque to wake you up with the call to prayer
-shower is nice and hot with greatv water pressure
-cleaning staff will come daily if you want
-kettle with coffee and tea, in-room
-free filtered water on each floor
-blackout curtains
Very good/Good:
-staff
-comfort of bed and pillows
Fair:
-a discerning eye will notice some age/wear and tear in the room. My first one was missing a tile and had some damage to the walls
-queen size room had a well thought out layout, but only space for 1 night stand. Could be tight for a couple
-windows don't open more than a crack. No views.
Dislikes:
-TV was very difficult to operate. You have to get really close to it and angle the remote from an awkwardly low position to get it to work. And even then, it only worked 1/3 of the time. Volume is locked. Channels were limited.
-the door often beeps when closing, which is a problem, because...
-you can hear a pin drop in the halls from inside the room.
Side note: Google says they're open, but the state museum/gallery and the fort are both closed for repairs

We booked a family room with balcony. The room is spacious perfect for a family of four.
The location is strategically located at many eateries and 5mins walk to Komtar and few other malls.
However the floor room was sandy. We have to put on bath slippers in the room. There was simple breakfast buffet . The char kuay tiao was delicious!
Recommend this hotel for non fussy travellers.

No-Frills Budget Stay – Perfect for Street Food Lovers!
If you're looking for a cheap, well-located crash pad in the heart of Georgetown’s food paradise, Kimberley Hotel gets the job done—just don’t expect luxury.
The Good:
✔ Prime Location – Right next to the night market and within walking distance to famous street food spots (e.g., Kimberley Street Koay Teow Th'ng, Lebuh Chulia hawkers). A dream for foodies!
✔ Budget-Friendly – Fair price for the convenience. You’re paying for the location, not the frills.
✔ Basic Cleanliness – Rooms are tidy enough for a short stay (no glaring hygiene issues).
The Not-So-Good:
❌ Dated & Worn – Furniture feels like it’s from the early 2000s, and the decor is tired. Bring your own toiletries—the provided ones are minimal.
❌ No Real Facilities – No gym, pool, or breakfast. Just a barebones lobby and elevator.
❌ Noise Potential – Rooms are not well-insulated and therefore, can hear noises periodically from outside the room.
Final Verdict:
A decent budget option if you just need a clean bed and a great food crawl outside your door. Not for those seeking comfort or style—but for street food pilgrims, it’s a practical pick.
Book just for sleeping—spend your time (and money) eating through Georgetown instead! 🍜🍢
