Impressive caves in the rainforest
We were here for two nights and were positively surprised. Nature is magnificent; we saw many animals. This was mainly limited to small animals and insects, but just the approximately 2 - 3 million bats that leave the caves in the evening were worth a visit.
The caves themselves are simply impressive and spectacular. Two cave visits were enough for us, so we preferred to enjoy the jungle a bit more. Really great rainforest, without large-scale deforestation and palm oil plantations. Nice to see!
The accommodation was clean and good. The food was delicious, fresh, and inexpensive. Definitely recommended.

Gunung Mulu National Park
Gunung Mulu National Park is, without question, one of the most extraordinary places I've ever visited and the most impressive national park I've seen anywhere in the world. Every part of this park is breathtaking—from the lush rainforest and dramatic limestone landscapes to the unforgettable bat exodus at sunset. The highlight, however, is undoubtedly the incredible cave system. Home to some of the largest and most spectacular caves on Earth, these UNESCO World Heritage-listed caves are truly awe-inspiring and unlike anything I've ever experienced. A very special thank you to our wonderful park rangers, Nelson and Suki. Your knowledge, passion, and dedication made this visit even more memorable. Thank you for sharing the beauty and wonders of this incredible place with us. This is an experience I'll never forget and a destination I believe everyone should visit at least once in their lifetime.

Worth Planning a special trip
You must plan at least 3 days for park activities. Even with 5 days you may run out of time. Boardwalks, towers, and canopy-walk bridges are in terrific shape. Some activities are self-guided, but many/most require a park guide. The guides are local folks and very good.
When the literature says that Clearwater Cave has 1000 stairs each way, there are A LOT of stairs. The bat-exodus-viewing amphitheater at Deer Cave is very nice, but people may want to chat loudly around you (which is tolerated but should be Most Strongly Discouraged!)
The little museum in park HQ is worth spending some time on, especially after you've been into the jungle a bit. Mulu Cafe has good service and a wide-ranging menu. The grounds around HQ are beautifully planted and maintained.
There is a wide variety of accommodations in the park - but you must book them months in advance. The bungalows are spacious and clean (daily housekeeping!) and have an electric kettle but no TV or minifridge.
THERE IS NO WI-FI, and cell signals are variable.
If you take a tour involving a boat ride, you should be nimble in order to embark and disembark. Height of jetty above deck varies a lot, and you must ride sitting on very low stools on the deck.
Gunung Mulu National Park is wonderful and well deserving of its World Heritage Site status.

One of the amazing places I visited
This is an absolute must see place if you are visiting Sabah. The caves are stunning (all of them). Watching the bats fly out of the cave was an experience (not guaranteed if raining)
Your experience here will be very much dependant on the tours that you do. If you go with the park tours then 30+ people. We stayed in Mulu Village and had 4 of us. The numbers in some of the other tours was horrifying. You also have to tours if you want to do pretty much anything other than see the bats.
Some of the walk up to the caves was hard, many steps.
DO NOT MISS THIS PLACE
