Beautiful grounds right on the lagoon. Easy to pop out and see the sunrise. The rooms were small but tidy and had most of what was needed. Only wish there was coffee earlier in the morning since breakfast didn't start until 9 am.

Blue Bird Golondrina
This place has great customer service. Atmosphere was great, no loud noise early or late. Mid day they play some music nothing crazy. We felt the value of the room was average about $200 a night. But, the shower water takes long time for warm water to come through and the pressure of water is very low, barely any water. Shower is dirty, we used sandals to shower. AC in the room really helps and having a mini fridge too. We had the Golondrina room which we loved the privacy and having our own deck. We had fish tacos there and they were good, that was the only thing we had. Their breakfast included is a rip off. Just coffee, toast and jelly and some fruit banana and papaya with granola. We loved how they provided kayaks and had no time limit. What I loved most was my spacious room and having the private deck. I would stay here again besides the shower issue.

Mr. HEIDEL IS VERY ABUSIVE
The place is very nice and the employees friendly, I arrived by car and everything was fine, the problem was when I booked pie arb&b as there was a lower price at which I paid starting. Right away HEIDEL host's name asked me to modify my reservation to add another person, otherwise we could not stay the 2 , I showed the employee because he saw me make the reservation and immediately called him, he was rude both to the 2 people who attended me and to me. He told you either accept the platform or you charged him more. I had no choice but to pay as the reservation is not refundable. Employees apologized in grief but I definitely won't be back

The room was ok but coolers and alcohol were not allowed in the room. We had no hot water for two days. There are no coffee makers in the room and had to wait til 9 am for coffee and breakfast. Continental breakfast was a bowl of fruit and some granola and toast—everyday. There were no hooks or places to hang wet towels or clothes. 4 clothes hangers for three people. MY DEPOSIT WAS NOT RECEIVED OR RETURNED!.

A Truly Magical Experience in Bacalar
This isn’t my first time staying here, and I absolutely love it. Bacalar is a beautiful little town officially recognized as a Pueblo Mágico—a designation given to places in Mexico that preserve their cultural richness, natural beauty, and charm. That also means you won’t find big resorts here, and honestly, that’s exactly how it should be. It’s all about preserving the lagoon and respecting the ecosystem.
This place truly is magical, and absolutely worth the cost. Just renting a kayak elsewhere in Bacalar can cost around 600 pesos for a few hours—here, you get so much more.
I’ve seen some reviews mention a lack of hot water or low water pressure... but seriously, what do you expect? You’re surrounded by nature! These cabins are thoughtfully designed to provide comfort while staying in harmony with the environment. And yes, there is hot water—plenty of it! The toilet works just fine, and the AC works too. Sure, it makes a bit of noise, but I actually found it soothing—like white noise—and slept like a baby.
You might come across ants, bugs, birds, or other wildlife—that’s just part of being immersed in such a vibrant ecosystem. It’s part of the charm.
I absolutely adore the lagoon and will keep coming back here as long as I can. The owner and her daughter are wonderful—so warm and welcoming.
Highly recommend for anyone who appreciates nature, authenticity, and a truly magical escape. ✨
