Good hotel if you insist on central too. If you want reliable WiFi and Hot Water (but maybe noisier). Friendly staff.
We three British middle aged guys were exploring the region and found this relaxed, delightful and tourist free town entice us to stay another night.
We checked out of our first hotel (the nearby María Isabella) at noon and (having looked up this hotel on TA and B dot com) walked the short distance into town to the hotel reception to buy the room (as in off the street).
The room for three (we were shown one on the ground floor in the smaller rear courtyard) was not ready so we left our bags in a room and sought a lunch in the square (Provincia) returning about 3 to check in properly.
We were taken to a second floor room in the corner (209) above the one we were shown. Earlier I had checked the WiFi (as it was a concern in TA reviews) in the ground floor room and the man showed me the plug in router to reboot if I had problems.
We settled into the room which was quite large and a bit stuffy, only having a small window off a covered atrium.
The room and sheets were clean with towels and plenty of toiletries and loo paper supplied.
On settling we found the WiFi in the room was erratic and frustrating. I had to reboot it downstairs and sit on the comfy leather chairs in the courtyard to get a reliable signal.
The big CRT TV on the table (with a drawer) was put on the floor to provide more surfaces to keep our stuff. Along the side of the room was a handy ledge for spreading our stuff out onto.
A single fold up chair was available but too low for the desk to be used as a desk chair. Between the double and single bed was a bedside table with drawer and a telephone to different departments. Another electric socket served the table but no bedside lamp so bedside reading of paper material was a bit dim as only the central light (and a doorway light) and wardrobe light lit the room. I have an LED lightbulb adapter for such occasions.
A fitted wardrobe had a light above and two coat hangers for the big space and numerous shelves.
The night was very quiet and we slept well on the comfortable and firm beds.
In the morning was shower time which proved (as others had reviewed) quite cold then tepid for the first two of us. After experimenting with the knobs it seemed the right one was the hot which spluttered, stopped and spat before eventually regaling us with actual hot water!
The shaving went ok with the large mirror over the set back sink but only the central ceiling lamp worked as the over mirror lamp had seen better days and was rusted and not working. An electrical socket and light switch was right by the sink (not to European standards as usual) and was useful for making our tea and coffee using an element and big aluminium ‘mug’ bought early in our travels.
Overall the hotel was quite good value and quiet. Just make allowances for WiFi and hot water a remote corner room. You could insist on a more central room if fussy.
