A very cozy and beautiful hotel
Our stay at the southern hotel was great; we felt at home since it is very cozy and comfortable. Moreover, the service and the food are a ten.

When Security Matters, Look Elsewhere
I booked Hotel Sureño several weeks in advance while traveling throughout Mexico by car. Because I was carrying luggage and personal belongings in my vehicle, secure, private on-site parking was one of my primary criteria when choosing hotels. I made the hotel aware in advance that I would be arriving by vehicle and required secure parking.
On the day of my arrival, while I was already driving toward Mérida, the hotel contacted me to say that their private parking was unavailable due to maintenance and suggested that I park on the public street instead.
I explained that secure parking was one of the primary reasons I had chosen their hotel and requested that my reservation be cancelled. While the staff was courteous and later attempted to find another parking option, that solution came only after I had already secured alternate accommodations. Rather than releasing me from the reservation because of the last-minute change, the hotel enforced its non-refundable policy, leaving me to pay for a room I could not reasonably use.
Unfortunately, my concerns about security did not end there.
A few days later, the hotel notified me that a cybersecurity incident involving its reservation system had exposed personal information associated with my reservation, including my name, email address, telephone number, reservation dates, room information, and reservation amount. They also warned guests to be alert for phishing attempts and fraudulent communications because reservation data had been accessed by an unauthorized third party.
I appreciate that the hotel disclosed the incident and appears to be working with its technology provider to investigate it. However, taken together with my experience regarding the parking situation, it reinforced my impression that security—both physical and digital—was not managed as carefully as I expect when choosing accommodations.

Very good experience.
Excellent experience at Hotel Sureño. I would especially highlight the friendliness of the team and the relaxed atmosphere of the hotel. Everything was very well organized, from check-in to check-out. The rooms are cozy, and the hotel has a special charm that makes the stay very pleasant. I would return without hesitation.

cute and peaceful little oasis in the middle of center merida. amazing staff, great rooftop and excellent food (had breakfast and dinner every day). rooms were very comfortable.
