Beautiful stay in San Jose del Cabo for a family of 5

Cabo azul was a beautiful, clean, luxurious resort with comfortable beach loungers, beautiful rooms and great food. We stayed in a 3 bedroom villa which was ample space for our family of 5 and included a kitchen and refrigerator. They had an ice maker and water dispenser in the fridge but we didn't trust it (and certainly not the tap) so we drank bottled water. They had a store downstairs that had groceries, liquor, water, snacks and the necessities. After comparing the prices to what was in town it was equally priced. The beds were comfortable and the air conditioner worked great. There were always available lounders by the pool and the drinks were great. You were not allowed to bring any drinks down to the pool, so can't really bypass drinking their drinks unless yiu go back to room to drink. We had an issue when our safe ran out of batteries and they came up within 10 minutes and fixed it. Food was excellent with large portions (which is good given the cost of everything). Beach was beautiful (but not swimmable, common for Cabo). They didn't push their vacation club schpiel on us more than one time. We were close to cute stores across the street and a couple of restaurants that were slightly cheaper than hotel. The town was a 1 mile walk (5 minute Uber ride). Highly recommend.

San Jose del Cabo anniversary week :) Great time!!

Excellent property, while it may an older property it is so well maintained and taken care of. We were welcomed on our anniversary with a "Happy Anniversary" on our bed in addition to a chocolate ball with strawberries inside. Our room was a 2BR with pool view, there are several pools on the property so if you want more quiet choose an interior pool, the main pool is the one you want if you want a "pool view". This is a more relaxed and calm property so a bit more quiet. We were trying to get the music a little higher volume during happy hour but no dice. The entire staff was exceptional, from keeping the property clean, to attending to all of our needs. It was cool to see how the staff knew a lot of the guests by name it made it more personal. Restaurants, bars, sushi bar etc. were all 1st class with a price to match. It was also awesome being right on the beach for the early morning walks. Would also recommend the art walk on Thursday. We can't wait to go back. Sooner rather than later

NOT Luxury!! Disappointing overall

Our stay was disappointing overall. While there were a few standout pool attendants who were friendly and attentive, the majority of the staff seemed overworked, disengaged, and unhappy to be there, which really impacted the overall experience.
Upon arrival, we were assigned to a room in a building with no functioning elevators, something we were not informed about until we were already being escorted to the room. We were later told that the elevators in this building had been out of service for more than six months, making the lack of prior disclosure even more frustrating. It would have been reasonable to inform guests ahead of time and allow them the opportunity to decide whether they were comfortable staying in that building. After voicing our concerns, the only solution offered was an upgraded room at an additional cost, which felt unreasonable given the inconvenience caused by the resort. Throughout our stay, we overheard numerous other guests expressing frustration about the same elevator issues, as well as the constant construction noise, making it clear this was a widespread problem.
The accommodations themselves were underwhelming. The beds were lumpy and uncomfortable, the sheets felt old and rough, and the pillows were equally worn. While the room size was a positive, the overall comfort level was lacking.
The facilities were average at best, with little attention given to creating a truly welcoming or memorable guest experience. There was nothing particularly special about the atmosphere, and it felt more transactional than luxurious.
Food quality was good, but service was consistently an issue across the property, and prices were extremely high for what was offered. Drinks were also disappointing, often tasting watered down.
Adding to the frustration, there was active construction next door, along with a blocked beach view, which further diminished the ambiance.
The main highlights were the spacious room, pool area, beach access, and food quality. However, these positives were overshadowed by poor service, lack of comfort, and overall value concerns. Unfortunately, this stay did not meet expectations, especially for the price.
We have been visiting Cabo for over 10 years and have stayed at many incredible resorts without ever having a negative experience until now. There are far too many exceptional resort options in Cabo to settle for this level of disappointment. We strongly recommend choosing a different resort for your vacation.

Amazing!

We have no complaints! We have come to Cabo Azul 7 years in a row. It's one of our TOP favorite resorts. Everyone there is so gracious, friendly and helpful! The resort is SO magnificent! Our room couldn't be better! Clean, airy, spacious Jr. Suite, one/two bedroom. We loved the poolside service and food at the resort. We also loved going across the street for massages and other spa treatments at Live Spa by Loreto. La Mexican was our favorite lil' eatery, the Ribeye tacos were so delish! There is also a Live by Loreto restaurant next door to the spa and the Manzanita "hut" at the end of the strip mall for very inexpensive delicious food!! Breakfast tacos for $2! We felt safe walking to downtown, but found Uber to be WAY inexpensive! Had an amazing dinner at Jazmin's. We also hit Chedraui (our fave) grocery store, or La Comer for some groceries to have some food/snacks in our room.
The Art Walk on Thursday nights is such a fun experience.
Cabo Azul is so amazing! Every time I leave, I book my next trip.
Mexico is ALWAYS a good idea! ❤️

This is a beautiful resort with outstanding service. The staff was friendly and helpful throughout my stay, and housekeeping kept the room spotless, often servicing it twice a day.
A special thank you to Citaly, who went above and beyond to help me recover a pair of sunglasses I left at another property.
The food was excellent (though pricey), the breakfast buffet had endless options, and the rooms, pool, and grounds were all top-notch.
The only reasons I’m giving 4 stars instead of 5 are the location and atmosphere. It’s situated between San José del Cabo and Cabo San Lucas, so most activities require a drive. Also, the resort had a very quiet, older crowd during my stay, which may not appeal to those looking for a more lively vacation.
Overall, an excellent resort that I would gladly visit again
