Nice hotel close to the train station

Nice and clean hotel with friendly staff. I think that the hotel is pretty new. They also have a gym - we didn't go but it looked nice. Free wi-fi. About 20min walk to the city centre and 5min walk to the train station in case you're planning to catch a train.

A one night stop

We stayed here before meeting up with our tour group and staying at the Dream Hotel.
A driver picked us up at the airport for $10. The hotel was reasonable. Hard beds and as it was summer it was hot but no air con. The hotel was basic bit we hadn't paid a lot for the hotel so no complaints. There needs to be thicker curtains as of course it gets dark quite late and with thin curtains it let a lot of light in.
I was staying with my 7 year old daughter. And they opened the kitchen up specially the night of our arrival so we didn't have to explore to get an evening meal.
I got the feeling that the hotel wasn't really near anything but it was for us a stop over hotel.

Convenient location and check-in

We only stayed one night on our Trans-Mongolian train journey and chose this hotel for its location - you can see it from the train and it is only a 10 minute walk from the station. It's also at walking distance from Peace Ave, the main street of UB. Arriving at 6:00AM, we were able to check-in immediately. The décor is a bit dated, but the staff were really kind and helpful. When we couldn't figure out how the "multi-nozzle" shower worked, someone promptly came up to explain. Then the receptionist brought us coffee. And because we checked out very early to catch the train the following day, they prepared a packed breakfast for us. However, the restaurant didn't serve dinner in the evening, which we were counting on, and we had to go to a pub in another hotel nearby. All in all, comfortable, good location and service, and nothing beats the 6:00AM check-in.

Convenient to train station with a friendly atmosphere

We only stayed here for one night before catching an early train, when the receptionist found out we'd be leaving before breakfast she arranged for one we could take with us. room was bright and comfortable, unfortunately I couldn't make the shower work, I only discovered this at 5 am and completely forgot to tell the receptionist on my way out so it may have been for any reason, including my own incompetence
The husband & wife run karaoke bar around the back is a great place to spend an evening with the locals.

Desperately in need of refurbishment

Only a few rooms are air-conditioned(mine wasn't - even though my booking stated it was!), but a friend in an air-conditioned room said it didn't work anyway!! We had trouble getting an accurate bill at reception - overcharging tourists is commonplace??- and both the exterior of the hotel and the rooms looked very tired! Restaurant acceptable but closes early: breakfast may include tinned(?) chicken soup! 10 minutes walk from railway station
