Great place to stay for cycle tourists

We spent 2 nights at the Town Yard and it was very convenient, clean and user friendly. For cyclists, there is space outside to store and pack your bike and sit and chat with other tourists, as well as the large living space downstairs. Our room had an en suite bathroom with toilet and shower. The breakfast was good and prompt from 8am. The location is handy to everything in UB. I would definitely stay there again.

Lovely Hostel

Absolutely lovely accommodation, very clean and comfortable.
The family who own it are really friendly and helpful. They also picked us up from the airport, which saved a lot of hassle after a long flight.
Would recommend to anyone staying in Ulaanbaatar.

Incredible place!

We had such an amazing stay at Town Yard Hostel. Gan, Ayohna, and their whole family could not have been more welcoming to us. Even though we came during a quiet time they organised a great couple of days away in the mini-Gobi for us and accompanied us the whole way which was wonderful. They allowed us to share Mongolian New Years lunch with their family which was a very special moment and will certainly not be forgotten. Their extensive knowledge about the country makes for the best recommendations as they have connections all around the place. The hostel itself is very comfortable and Ayonha prepares great breakfasts every morning. It’s close to the city centre and within easy walking distance of all the major attractions. Couldn’t recommend this place enough, it’ll make your trip to Mongolia that bit more special.

Owner had alcohol breath and borrowed money from me

I had a very uncomfortable experience here. The owner was initially very nice and offered to help plan my trip, and wasn’t very pushy, and it was all good. He later convinced me to give him 5k and then another 5k to buy booze so that his wife wouldn’t find out. He was clearly on a bit of a bender. He told me he would take the money he borrowed from me out of the price of the tour he said he would personally take me on.
Sorry that’s super freaking unprofessional and unethical. I left the hostel without really telling the owners and left my key in my room.

Hostel stay and Gobi tour

Had a fantastic experience both staying here, with Gan and Oyuna which are one of the best people i have ever met! So friendly towards their guests and always so helpful with everything! Can’t even count the amount of nights I say out smoking and talking about the world with Gan, fantastic experience just staying here. Their son took me and a few others to Gobi for a week, showing something new, completely gorgeous scenery every day. Can’t recommend this place enough, would never go to Ulaanbaatar and NOT stay here! CHOOSE TOWN YARD
