We arrived in the rain and the people at this hotel made us feel as though we were coming home. It was like a port in a storm:) the room was basic, but had a little kitchen with a fridge, and a super comfy bed. The bathroom was a space saver, so a little water did get on the bathroom floor, but it was no big deal. The curtains were dark enough to block the light, and even though our room was facing the road, it was very quiet. We had dinner at the restaurant and it was delicious. There is coffee and tea available all the time. We would stay there again, especially because the young women and gentleman who took care of us were lovely and so welcoming. We recommend :)

First and last time we will have dinner here.

High price for bad uninteresting crappy food. Lasagna without any tomato sauce. Soft and greasy french fries covered in salty bbq seasoning (grillkrydde)
Prawn sandwich with only salad as additional ingredients.
On top of that there must have men a wasp nest nearby so we had to get the kids off the terraces to finish the dinner inside.
The staff seemed to be inexperienced and not very motivated summer workers.
The only reason we ended up there was the fact that we missed the ferry and well reviewed deli seafood shop nearby was closed at 1700h.
A local told us that the food at the hotell was about the same as in the restaurant in the harbour, but cheaper. Not sure if and how that possibly could be true with the bill we had to pay.

DO NOT EAT HERE unless you're starving

We didn't stay at the hotel, we just came here to eat.
It's way too pricey for the quality, most of it seems like frozen food that was heated and that's why it was done so quickly.
The lasagne doesn't even have tomato sauce in it.
The salad on the side it's just lettuce and one tomato....ridiculous.
Few plant based options like the "vegan burger" that has dairy as allergens, wtf?
Fries were too soft, underdone.
Really crappy fast food. Not worth that kind of money. We were just desperate for food that day and the other one we wanted to visit was closed.

A really, really bad experience

I still cannot believe the experience I had at this hotel. I arrived exhausted after a couple of days of hard cycling, and all I wanted was a good night's sleep (a pretty normal thing one might want when paying money for a hotel room). What I had no idea of, and could not have known unless someone told me, was that a huge party (which the hotel was hosting) was planned for that evening, and that it would run until after 2am. This was a party where people would be talking, drinking, shouting etc. etc. just outside my window.
I tried first to go to sleep at a nomral time (around 10am). After midnight I went downstairs and spoke to two staff members, who were busy serving the party with drinks. They did not seem to understand that what they were engaged in was a problem – that to take money off someone and then betray their trust in so obvious a way was wrong. They did nothing to stop the noise, indeed it got worse after this. Finally things started to die down enough (with earpugs in) that I could get to sleep a bit after 2am (by which time I had a headache, in addition to all else). The day after could have been a lovely day with a walk up a nearby mountain. Instead it was ruined.
To cap off this superb experience, the morning after the party I went down to breakfast and they had not even bothered to mop the floor. Every step of ours (the guests) stuck to the floor and made a loud noise as you pulled your feet free (who knows how many drinks had been spilled the night before). Just so charming.
These are the standards of this "institution". To me it is deeply immoral to take money off people under such circumstnces. You cannot sell something to one group (i.e. the opportuity for a good night's sleep) and then also make money (probably quite a lot in this case) creating conitions that ensure that the first group does not get what they paid for. I would avoid this hotel. In my view the owners need to take a long hard look at themselves. I think their behaviour was appalling.

The good: nice and welcoming staff, nice area, good breakfast, well cleaned room.
The bad: lack of curtains to block sunlight (important for the norwegian summer because it doesn't get dark at night), so we had a restless night. The bathroom needs a serious upgrade, after showering there is water all over the floor, it was messy. Maybe it was because we booked a basic room, but still made the stay less confortable.
Overall the stay was ok.
