Strong food, comfortable rooms and a lovely position by Tyrifjorden

I stayed two nights at Tyrifjord Hotell in connection with a work event, and it was a very good experience overall. For me this was a clear 5/5 stay, mainly because the food was consistently strong, the meeting facilities worked well, and the location by Tyrifjorden gives the hotel much more character than a typical business hotel.
The food was the strongest part of the stay. Lunch had an impressive selection of both hot and cold dishes, the three-course dinner was of high quality, and breakfast also offered a good choice. The hotel also worked very well for a work gathering. The meeting room we used was bright, with large windows, good air and views towards the water, which made a noticeable difference during the day.
My room, number 214, was spacious, clean and comfortable. As shown in my room photos, it had a practical layout, a sitting area and a warm, well-kept feel. The double bed gave me a good night’s sleep. The bathroom was large, clean and seemed quite recently refurbished, with a good walk-in shower and the practical items I needed. My room faced the back of the hotel, with a view mainly towards the car park.
What could be improved:
The buffet area felt a little cramped at busy times during breakfast and lunch, and the wine service on the first evening was handled by a waiter who seemed rather inexperienced. In the room, I missed better lighting above the bathroom mirror.
If you go;
I would ask for a room facing Tyrifjorden. The outdoor areas, lawns, seating and views across the water are among the hotel’s real strengths.
Final verdict:
A very good hotel for work gatherings, car travel and quiet stays by the fjord, with particularly strong food, comfortable rooms and a setting that makes the stay feel more memorable. I would happily stay here again.

Rural surroundings and very good views

Good location at Tyrifjorden only one hour from Oslo. Quiet area
Large exterior area and possibility for swimming.
We also liked the road along Tyrifjorden to the hotel.
Suitable for, weddings, confirmations and conferences.
Good room and comfortable bed.
Totally ok breakfast
What pulls down is early check-out at 11:00 as well as curtains in the room that let light in.

Vi er glade for at hotellets solrike, vestvendte beliggenhet ved Tyrifjorden, store uteareler, bademuligheter og omgivelser svarte til forventningene. Hotellet benyttes av både forretningsreisende som skal besøke Modum, Kongsberg, Hønefoss, Drammen, Sigdal og Krødsherad, i tillegg til ferie -og fritidsgjester som skal besøke en eller flere av severdighetene i området, blant annet Blaafarveværket, Vikersund Hoppsenter, Kistefos, Krøderbanen, Hadeland Glassverk, Hagan (Christian Skredsvigs kunstnerhjem) og Lauvlia (Theodor Kittelsens kunstnerhjem).
Tyrifjord Hotell benyttes også til bryllup, julebord, konfirmasjoner, familiesammenkomster, møter og konferanser.

Accommodation in a quiet environment

We came from Sweden and had plans to visit the Blaafarveverket before going west and home. Then Tyrifjord Hotel is a great choice for your stay. The hotel is idyllically located on the shores of the southern Tyrifjord - across Vikersund. The only sound you hear is the train when it passes Vikersund on the other side of the water. The hotel is a few years old, and it shows again some places. We got room on the 3rd floor with a view over the water. As soon as we had left our luggage, we went down and took a cold beer on the terrace in the good weather. Later in the evening we had dinner. I ate homemade snitzel, and the others ate banged chicken thighs. Beer for drink. Paid kr 1.022,-. The food was ok, no more for that price. For some reason, you rarely meet hotels where both the hotel and the restaurant are top. Because I often distinguish by travel the two things. Accommodation at the hotel - dinner at the restaurant. Breakfast was as usual in Norway, good. I have stayed at the hotel before, and as last it is a nice staff. Friendly, and welcoming. The outdoor area is nice and attractive. Good parking possibilities at the entrance. With its location, the hotel is perfectly situated if you have appointments or attractions you want to visit in the area. Some will hesitate to describe the hotel as a fjord hotel because it is located close to Tyrifjorden and a beach nearby. I will not judge it myself, but leave it up to the individual guest to judge.

Vi setter stor pris på de fine ordene om vår idylliske beliggenhet ved Tyrifjorden, det pene uteområdet og den rolige atmosfæren på terrassen. Det gleder oss også at rommet i tredje etasje med utsikt over vannet, samt vår frokostbuffet, falt i smak.
Samtidig takker vi for dine konstruktive tilbakemeldinger angående hotellets standard og middagsopplevelsen. Vi jobber kontinuerlig med vedlikehold for å ivareta hotellets sjarm, og dine kommentarer om både bygget og restauranten taes med videre til vårt team for evaluering og forbedring. Da vi har mange gjester i ulik alder fra mange ulike land gjennom sommerperioden forsøker vi å tilby et lunsj og middagstilbud tilpasset våre gjesters ulike behov, og vårt mål er alltid at både overnattingen og matopplevelsen skal stå i stil med forventningene.
Det er veldig hyggelig at du har hatt glede av og fremhever hotellet som et ypperlig utgangspunkt for å utforske de unike attraksjonene i nærområdet. I tillegg til Blaafarveværket er både Vikersund Hoppsenter, Kistefos, Hadeland Glassverk, Lauvlia og Skredsvighagan mye besøkte attraksjoner. I tillegg har museumsjernbanen Krøderbanen med historiske damplokomotiv avganger hver søndag gjennom sommersesongen og er en svært populær attraksjon. Vi ønsker deg og ditt reisefølge hjertelig velkommen tilbake neste gang veien fører dere forbi Vikersund og Tyrifjorden.

Hotel not worth the money

The hotel is close to water and has a lovely beach. The reception was seldom staffed and even though you called with the clock there was no one. The rooms are of very worn and old-fashioned character, without refrigerators and coffee, as well as small and low TV. The worst was however the hotel's restaurant, where the food is very expensive compared to what you get and where the level of service was extremely low. We waited incredibly long for 6 main dishes in an empty restaurant. The hotel is not worth the money.

Introduce smoking prohibited!

Pearl of somewhere. But you have to put a smoking ban in place . Horrible to sit and eat in smoke and constant asphalt scent!!!
