Memorable 40th Birthday stay at the Rockefeller
I chose The Rockefeller by Newmark in Cape Town for my girl’s trip to celebrate my 40th birthday, and overall, it was a wonderful experience with a few hiccups along the way.
Leading up to my stay, I was nearly spammed for payment (likely linked to the Booking.com data breach). Thankfully, when I called the hotel directly, they reassured me that they would never request payment ahead of schedule or threaten to cancel a booking. That gave me peace of mind.
I worked with the concierge and their partner company, Brandies, to arrange an in-room birthday set-up. They delivered beautifully balloons, roses, and sweet treats that made the occasion feel extra special.
Upon arrival close to midnight, check-in was slow and I was disappointed to learn that my friend and I had been placed on different floors despite prior conversations with the hotel. As a Senior TripAdvisor member, I had also enquired about a possible upgrade for my milestone birthday. Initially, things felt disorganized, but I must commend Zaid at the front desk—he handled the situation with professionalism and warmth, quickly resolving the issue, ensuring our rooms were reset with the special décor, and arranging an upgrade. The thoughtful touches, including a lovely note, truly made the stay memorable.
The hotel itself is modern, stylish, and centrally located, perfect for exploring Cape Town. Uber rides to and from attractions were seamless. Breakfast offered a good spread, though I’d suggest more variety and improvements to the hot drinks service (I struggled to get a decent cappuccino, and my friend had trouble getting black tea).
My upgraded room was spacious, with a well-laid-out bathroom and complimentary toiletries. The indoor rooftop pool and spa are standout features. We indulged in spa treatments and felt thoroughly pampered. Throughout our stay, staff were attentive, checking in on us and ensuring we had everything we needed.
Despite the rocky start, The Rockefeller team turned things around and made my milestone celebration truly special. I would recommend this hotel and would happily stay again on a future trip to Cape Town.

Not great
This was my second time coming to the restaurant, 3 years later nothing has changed. Whether busy or quiet the waiters do not pay much attention to guests . The only time the waiter comes to your table is to take your order and give you your food and no thought to check if you need anything else. We had pizza for starters it was not well cooked underneath as if the oven was not hot enough but the taste was good. We also had pasta with some seafood, I don’t know if it was me but in the white sauce I could taste flour it was not creamy at all. There’s no warmth in the waiter.

Great business gateway - The Rockefeller really rocks.
I recently stayed at The Rockefeller by Newmark during a business trip for a conference and I had a great experience. The location is excellent—easy to access and conveniently situated, making it ideal for both business and leisure.
I stayed in a one-bedroom apartment, which was spotless, comfortable and well maintained. The cleanliness was exceptional throughout my stay. The service was outstanding, with the staff always friendly, professional, and eager to assist.
Breakfast was another highlight, offering a great variety of delicious options to suit every taste. It was the perfect way to start each day.
I thoroughly enjoyed my stay and would gladly recommend The Rockefeller by Newmark to anyone visiting the area. I also heard that the General Manager recently received the Best GM Award within the Newmark group, and based on the exceptional standards and hospitality I experienced, it is truly well deserved. Congratulations to the entire team for delivering such an excellent guest experience!

A Very Happy Guest from the UK - Excellent Hotel Experience
I had a fantastic 7-night stay at the Rockefeller Hotel in Cape Town. My city-view room was spacious, very clean, well-equipped with everything I needed, and had great lighting throughout. Overall, both the hotel and the room were extremely comfortable, and I genuinely couldn’t fault the experience.
The location was also excellent - perfectly situated with easy access to Cape Town city centre, the V&A Waterfront, and the CTICC Convention Centre, which made getting around incredibly convenient with Uber.
The breakfast was another real highlight. There was an incredible selection of both hot and cold food and drinks - honestly more than you could ask for. I especially loved the live egg station, where a chef prepared eggs exactly how you wanted them, which was a really nice touch.
This hotel also had a very good gym, and a nice bar with a shallow* Pool on the top floor.
I would absolutely recommend this hotel to anyone visiting Cape Town, whether for business or leisure, and I’d be more than happy to stay here again in the future.

Amazing Hotel and Staff
First things first, I was travelling alone for the first time in 35 years! Secondly, never been to South Africa before. The Rockerfeller was recommended to me by a friend. WHAT A RECOMMENDATION!!! Despite arriving earlier than check-in, I was welcomed warmly and despite my room not being ready (which I did not expect to be honest), I was offered that my luggage was stored until my room was ready. Brilliant.
I stayed at the hotel for 6 nights - it was lovely. The room was spacious, the bathroom and shower were great and the air conditioning / heating was appropriate to ensure a comfortable experience. The food - breakfast and evening meals were delicious. Checkout was seamless. Please use Marvel Travel for transfers to and from the airport. Byron was a legend and such a great guy - he will talk to you about anything and everything - amazing. I did read a previous review about the noise of the wind etc. Yes, I did hear the wind on 2 days, but when you are on the 11th floor, it is to be expected and to be honest, it didn't affect my stay at all.
