​We recently stayed at Gateside Guesthouse and had a wonderful experience. From the moment we arrived, we were struck by the peaceful atmosphere and the beautiful, well-manicured gardens. It truly feels like a quiet sanctuary in the heart of Hilton.
​The Highlights:
​The Warm Welcome: A huge thank you to Magda and Mandy(helping with last minute sewing suppliesl! Their hospitality really sets this place apart. They are incredibly attentive, professional, and went out of their way to make us feel welcome and well-cared for throughout our stay.
​The Rooms: Our room was spotlessly clean, spacious, and elegantly decorated. The bed was incredibly comfortable, and the attention to detail made it feel like a true home away from home.
​The Setting: Relaxing on the patio overlooking the garden was a highlight. It’s the perfect spot for a morning coffee or a quiet sundowner.
​Whether you are visiting for a school event or just need a getaway in the mist-belt, Gateside is the place to be. We’ll definitely be back, thanks in large part to the fantastic service from the team!

Pleasant stay

Well situated in beautiful garden with view.
Comfortable bedroom beside having to get out of bed to put off bedside light??
Easy walk into village.
Be prepared to pay R50 for use of air conditioner ! Windows have to remain closed because of “monkey problems”

Strongly recommended

The views from Treetops room is amazing. So many different birds in the garden. Although July, my son enjoyed a few swims in the pool. The room has everything, very comfortable. We will definitely recommend and we will return for sure, when next in the area. Loved it.

Could be better

We recently stayed at Gateside Guesthouse and wanted to share my experience.
Pros:
Beautiful Views: The scenery surrounding the guest house is absolutely stunning. Waking up to such breathtaking views was a highlight of our stay.
Delicious Breakfast: The breakfast offered was delightful, with a variety of options that were both tasty and satisfying. It truly set a positive tone for the day.
Cons:
Unfriendly Welcome: Unfortunately, our welcome was not as warm as we had hoped from the manager. The initial interaction felt a bit cold and rushed, which set an awkward tone for the start of our stay.
Communication Style: Throughout our visit, reminders about the house rules were delivered in a rather unfriendly manner. This could be improved by adopting a more welcoming tone for guests.
Feeling Unwelcome: At times, we felt unwelcome due to the overall atmosphere and communication style. A more friendly approach from the manager would greatly enhance the guest experience.
Conclusion:
While there were aspects of our stay that we truly enjoyed, such as the beautiful views and delicious breakfast, the unfriendly welcome and communication style left much to be desired. With some improvements in guest relations, Gateside Guesthouse has the potential to provide a much more inviting experience.

This is our second year visiting. Such a beautiful place. Friendly staff, clean and neat. Already booked for next year!
