Tzaneen hospitality

On our roadtrip we stopped over at Tzaneen. We asked locals for recommendation and directed us to some establishments. Was not happy and spotted this one.
They had availability and we negotiated a good rate. In turn gave us breakfast with that rate. The venue is doing some remodeling but premises are clean and quite. Big sparkling pool. U can dip your feet whilst you have your food served there.
Rooms are cosy, neat and clean. Staff friendly and welcoming.
Will be back for a longer stay!

unsatisfactory visit

The service was not what i expected, the lodge has one cleaner who is also responsible for making breakfast for visitors and this was affecting the cleaning part of the hotel since the rooms were not 100% clean, the smell of urine inthe toilets was not pleasant,the linen onthe beds they were not clean at all,i don't seem to think they are changed often when each visitor checkout from the hotel, i had to use my own small towel to cover myself at night when i went to bed, curtains were also not clean.there's a space between the bath and the wall it's not cleaned at all.last but not least when they pour the chemical inside the pool they don't use the safe to take out all the rubbish inthe pool, we were swimming with dead flies and leaves,they don't use a washing machine to wash their towels they use hands and they are not as bright as you they could be and they are hanged on top of the small trees,the location is good cos the lodge is inside the cbd

Lodge or........

I've been to this place several times , but it seems like the owners are not interested any more . The building has been under renovation for almost 2 years. Building materials all over the place , pool area looks like ................... .this place requires some serious upgrade .

Good Value Lodge

Stayed here a couple of times , place is currently under construction, however value for money stopover, clean rooms , clean bathrooms, friendly service, centrally located, lovely pool area and dining facility.

Hotel or a work in progress?

It looks like the place has become an idiosyncratic building project by somebody who has a great eye for building / design but the experience of the paying guest seems to be low on their agenda. Electrics tripped out; no hot water in one room; signs everywhere telling you what you can and cannot do.
To be fair to the staff: they did put a brave face on it and did what they could do to provide a reasonable service.
My opinion is that the owner should remind themselves that without the paying guest returning, the refurbishment is likely to be a very long process. We found another hotel at about the same price - within one km - and will stay there next time.
